    Which is almost 500lbs using the 1 rep max calculator. 425 x 6 = 494lbs
So you could probably do 500 for a rep if you tried.

LOK, wouldn't it be interesting to see what you'd look like if you were getting rammed in the asshole by Buddy? How about we find out? :crafty:

I'm currently running 3 miles, 3x a week at around the 26-minute mark...

That calculator doesn't account for people who have better endurance fibres than raw strength fibres. Essentially, I know I wouldn't be able to get more than 450. That's just the way it is.

Hanzy always talked about how fat and unfit he was. I just don't know if he was lying then or is lying now. :dunno:

How talk are you, Mustard? That's a pretty good pace. 3 miles in or around 26 minutes.

    I'm 6'3" and currently weight 215lb.
BTW, when I clocked 26 minutes, the conditions were perfect: 6.00pm, zero wind, warm temperature and I'd eaten properly an hour beforehand and warmed-up/stretched. I got into a really good groove.

Sometimes, I go running when I haven't eaten for about 5 hours and that can be tough when the body starts using up stored energy/fat.
My normal time when I don't push it is around 27-28 minutes so I want shave 60-90 seconds off that.

I'm going again in about 3 hours and will post the time.

I'm fat and unfit but I was always active and played every sport. Just that I was fat. But I'm still able to run. It's not like I'm bedridden.

The problem with running is that it eats the muscle before anything else, and then it goes for fat. Not the other way around.

That doesn't make any sense. If you can do 425 x 6 then you can do a much heavier weight than 425 for 1 rep. It's strength more than endurance. Every rep you do gets tougher and tougher and hence it's your strength that's keeping you going, not just endurance. I bet you your own life that you could put up over 480 for 1 rep. Believe in yourself! :kidcool:

Hanzy, it makes perfect sense. Trust me, 450 was the max I could get. I know; I tried.

And I don't lift heavy weights now anyway. I'm getting cardiovascularly fit so that I stay in good shape for years to come.

Just stating the facts as they've been printed, LOK baby! :kidcool: I got nothing against cardio, I love the rowing machine more than anybody in the gym. Just saying that it eats muscle first before fat.

it is a decieving fact Hanzy..

a lot of body builders are so againest running.. they like to walk at a snails pace on an incline treadmill..

funny thing is.. for as many hours a week they put in the gym.. these guys are in terrible shape really.. I knew bodybuilders that looked great but would pass out if they had to RUN a mile..

they spread this "running burns muscle"

when really "Sprinting" can help BUILD muscle as it raises your growth hormone and other things in your body more than almost any other exercise.. look at sprinters.. they are chiseled where as long distance runners look soft

But sprinting and running are two different things. On this forum, everybody is talking about running 3-5 miles every day. Look at Buddy Rydell, he's given up his bodybuilding to now focus more on running and therefore he's going to lose all the strength he's gained after years of weight lifting in exchange for looking leaner and being faster. Which is good IMO. But you have to give up 1 for the other. Bodybuilders, at least professional bodybuilders have to do what they do for the sake of competitions. They don't run because running serves no purpose in their sport.

    I agree here Hanzy..

although I think the worry of "losing muscle" on a 3 mile run is very un-warented.. and I think it's sad that guys spend their life in a gym and if they had to run to save their life they couldn't.. these guys live in the gym and are not really "healthy"

True and also, even if they don't want to run, they can still do other things like the stair climber, exercise bike, or rowing machine. Rowing machine is my favourite. I kick all sorts of ass on there. I go all out as much as I can and we try to race to see who can clear 2000m first. We put up money bets too just for added motivation.
Even when you're about to die on there, you still have to keep it up because it's such a tight race with like 4-5 guys all trying to win.

I ran at least 5 miles today, and I'm just under 200lbs at 5ft7. I'm not in danger of losing my muscle...particularly when I'm doing 70 chins and 90 HSPU a day now.

I'm only working up to long distance so I can beat my high school totals. Soon I'm going to work in mile training, and I already do windsprints. As a matter of fact, I might have to cut my long distance stuff down to 2-3 days a week because my hip tendons and ligaments are getting majorly sore and I just can't run effectively everyday.

I might start doing a weekly distance run, and then mix it up with much faster stuff.

I'll probably do some tonight. I gotta stretch because I'm just getting too inflexible.
