That fight makes sense. Petruzelli could probably make a bit of a name for himself as the Hype Killer with a win over Lashley to go along with his KO of Kimbo. TFK
Well, that's kinda what I'm saying. They took a risk with Lesnar, and luckily it paid off in a big way. But with what we've seen from Lashley so far, I just haven't seen anything that would justify taking that kind of risk. I'm sure Lashley wouldn't come cheap, and his going life or death with an average at best Jason Guida, and a few wins over terrible fighters really doesn't seem to be enough to take that gamble right now. He clearly doesn't have the punching power that Lesnar has, and he probably won't have anywhere near the 'buzz' Lesnar generated. Not to mention all the negative press signing another 'fake wrestler' they'll get from the UFC haters. I'm not saying Lashley won't be a great fighter. That remains to be seen. He has a lot going for him. He has size. He has a great wrestling pedigree, and he's training with ATT, which should do him wonders. But right now the risk\reward factor doesn't make it worth the UFC signing Lashley, unless they can get him on the cheap, or on a TUF contract. TFK
Me neither, I think it would be great in fact. Its not really a risk. Put him in with Heath and Kongo out of the gate. If he beats those two, you know he is at least legit, If he loses both, bounce him.
i think the fear could be a potential Lesnar-Lashley fight down the road......on the one hand, it'd do great business.....on ther other, it is a 'fight' that could have taken place in a WWE ring about 3 years ago and will provide further ammunition for MMA detractors. Never mind Ray Mercer showing people what a boxer can do to an ex-UFC champion, this would see two guys who used to pretend to fight for a living, at the top of this sport. If Mercer made people wonder what a Klitschko could do in MMA, then continued success of Lashley and Lesnar (rather than just the 'one off' that Lesnar has proven to be thus far) could see numbskulls speculate about how Papa Shango could compete in UFC.
What's funny about that, is the guy played Papa Shango, used to play a guy called 'Kama...the Supreme Fighting Machine', who was pretty much pretending to be a UFC fighter. TFK
:: Crazy but very possible. Also I think Klitcsho, both of them - would be awesome MMA fighters. Didn't vitali kick box ?
Both the Klitschko's came from a kickboxing background, and so did Manny Pac! Manny would fuck shit up at 145. Manny vs Ricardo Torres anyone?
I think as time passes, more professional boxers will come from an MMA background, more so than just a plain boxing background. 10 years from now, it wouldn't surprise me if the heavyweight champ of the world also had a belt in BJJ. TFK
Before Lashley and Lesner were pretend fighting, they were wrestling Legit. ANd Lashley i think also is a former Army Ranger or something.
Really, I didnt know Manny had kick boxing experience - with his boxing skills he would fuck dudes up in MMA
