But REED's Point is, Instead of REMAINING @ '60, WAITING on Reluctant, Undersized Guys to MOVE UP, Why Doesn't GGG Move Up HIMSELF???...

No, Bernard's Middleweight Resume WASN'T Earth Shattering, but he DID Move Up, Didn't He???...In NO Way Can Hopkins Be Placed in a Position Analogous to GGG, when he Eventually Moved Up Not 1, but 2 Weight Classes...

    SUCCESSFULLY, REED Might Add...

He brought in 12,372 to the Forum against a marginal opponent so no fight promoter can argue that he doesn’t have a strong and growing fanbase. With Pacquiao recovering from shoulder surgery and contemplating retirement, HBO is pushing Triple G as its newest star, but it needs to get him real competition.

Cotto was soundly out-boxed by Austin Trout

He moved up AFTER beating name-welteweights that made it LUCRATIVE for him to move up, equipped as he now was with a name.

GGG is instead expected to move up and take on Kovalev who got £200,000 for his fight with Hopkins.

    Real big money there alright.

GGG is basically being told "Fuck you, you're nothing, go away and take high-risk, low-reward fights, leave the lucrative, easy fights for the Home Boys Only".

    Fuck that.

I am no GGG fanboy, you can count very very very few posts made in here by me about the man, but I know a fit-up when I see one.

You're forgetting that back in 2001 everyone thought Tito was going to do Hopkins like he did Joppy. Trinidad was a great win at the time. Hell, I don't know that any of GGG's opponents thus far are even at Joppy's level.

    It's a merry go-around for these guys.

It is a neat clique of easy, lucrative fights.

A merry-go-around for the Home Boys Only.

Cotto loses to Trout, Cotto beats Martinez, Trout fights Lara, Trout fights Canelo, Cotto fights Geale, Canelo fights Kirkland, Kirkland fights Angulo, Canelo fights Angulo, Lara fights Angulo, Canelo fights Lara, Canelo fights Cotto.

Loads of chances to fit in GGG.

    None of them taken.

    I'd like to see GGG/Canelo, I guess. Don't really care about GGG/Cotto.

GGG reminds me of Tito because they were both boxer-punchers....they both cut the ring off pretty well...both rely on accurate punching rather then speed....both can put you down on the canvas with a left hook or straight right hand.....and I'm hoping that GGG can generate that excitement that Tito created in the junior middle weight division when he went through David Reid, Vargas in high profile 154 fights and then and then William Joppy in middle before taking on Trinidad.......it would be amazing if GGG landed Cotto, Alvarez, moved up to super middle and take on a belt holder there before fighting Andre Ward.....that IMO would be awesome.......and yes he is his own fighter......but there are some similar qualities....anyhow...enjoyable fighter to watch.....

Cotto is one of those guys who people have an excuse for ALL his losses.

    Marg's gloves were loaded.

Pac was juiced and the catch weight hurt him.

Floyd beat him, but he didn't have Roach.

Trout beat him, but he didn't train AND he didn't have Roach.

I guess the Freddie Roach trained Cotto, as long as he isn't facing anybody on roids and with loaded gloves, is a top 10 atg.

Lemieux is a fighter nobody has brought up....i'm still not quite sure if he is a fraud or not...i see the talent but does he have the chin or toughness? He has a title shot against Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam who in fact I think will win..LOL....would be amazing if Lemieux came through and became a top fighter...would be great for the division

Its how it works in boxing. If a guy is liked, his excuses hold water. If he isn't, his excuses are bullshit. Like life, really.

GGG has indeed got good footwork and likes to cut off the ring, but unlike Tito, he moves guys into position not with just his feet, but his hands.

He throws punches to get guys to move to where he wants them.

Lemieux will never be a great fighter. He's too flawed. But I do wanna see what happens if he can back Canelo up and nail him with that big left hook he has.

The Roach thing is bs, Roach is one of the most overrated trainers ever. The Pac weight and juicing thing are nebulous, who knows. I don't think he beats Pac either way. The Margarito loss, though? "The other guy loaded his gloves" is a pretty good excuse, imo

Without concrete proof, we'll never know about the Marg loss either.

If they were fighting in some remote arena in Tijuana, I'd say it's 100% Marg loaded them.

But for Cotto supporters to be 100% certain that Marg snuck loaded wraps past the NSAC in THE biggest fight of 2008 simply because Cotto's face busted up?

I can't BELIEVE I'm defending fuckin Marg, but it was his pressure and strength that were bothering Cotto just as much as the punches. Cotto couldn't hurt him, and Marg was cutting off the ring on Cotto and allowing him no time to breathe or think. He damn sure didn't load his chin, nor stamina.

Margarito needed to move up and face Kovalev, leave Miggles alone.

Myself and a few others on SecondsOut didn't board the Tito hype train and thought Hopkins would win comfortably, but yeah I guess it's a good win. Still, he had fought fuck all up to that point and only got the fight with Tito because Don King wasn't just aboard the hype train, he was driving it and didn't see the derailment coming. Do you think if King didn't underestimate Hopkins that fight/tournament still gets made? Hell no. Hopkins gets the GGG treatment and carries on fighting shite because nobody is willing to fight him. You are correct that GGG's opponents haven't been very good, I don't think anybody on this site would disagree with that, I don't see how that's his fault or why he should have to move up either when marquee names have already moved into his division and are claiming they're the champ. Reed is right that Hopkins moved up and did good things but that was after YEARS fighting complete and utter dross at 160 before finally getting the opportunity to prove his worth because of Kings misjudgement.

I really dont think too many people think Marg didnt load the gloves for Cotto based on his face and the rematch, in which Cotto was hit a lot and face wasnt nearly as busted.

Pac beat Cotto. I dont think Pac juiced so it was a fair fight to me.

Floyd beat Cotto fair and square too. But it was Floyd's toughest fight since the first Castillo fight IMO. Which IMO means a lot.

Trout beat cotto easily. Bad style matchup.

Now i like GGG. But every one of those names i mentioned is better than GGG's whole resume. Not to mention many guys Cotto has beaten.

I think GGG actualy beats Cotto. I just think the fight is closer than the Canelo fight who will just stand there and be a punching bag.

Cotto was hit a lot in the Margarito rematch? I don't remember it like that, but haven't seen the fight since it happened.

I don't remember many people picking Joppy to beat Tito prior to their fight, the way he won was impressive but Joppy fought like a twat. Besides, I was referring to Hopkins fighting fuck all in between Jones and Tito.

I didn't think Tito would steamroll him the way he did. Granted nobody would have figured Joppy would fight like an moron either.

When DM was in Germany fighting and defending his WBO title..........................he was supposed to drop everything and fight Roy.

Now, similarly, a "Soviet Bloc" {sic} fighter is IN the United States, defending a WBA title, clamouring to fight Canelo and Cotto..............and he is supposed to drop everything and fight Ward or Kovalev

    Fucking hell.

"Come to the USA"......guy comes to the USA........."Go away...fight elsewhere...."
