Like you, I'm something of a casual when it comes to cricket, but in terms of sporting theatre there are very few things which come close to an epic run chase. That might have been the most epic of them all, certainly in test matches.

Archer is a wonderful bowler, he's actually a fairly decent lower order batsman, but yeah he lacks the experience.

He was trying a Stokes on it...........home run on every ball.

When he walked I thought that was that.

The bookies had England like 12-1

By the final ball it was 8/11 for both.

I'd make it 5 or less.

In the 2005/2006 Season, Bolton had the beating of every team in England.

Now they are basically not even a team.

In 2005 Bolton finished 3 points off a Champions League spot.

I remember them as being a team I hated playing. Fat Sam with his Vibrating panels and exercise bikes and headsets and the two Kevins up front.

Yeah they were horrible to play. Clever set up though, buying top players like Okocha and Hierro who were past their best but still useful and mixing them with workhorses. I remember they were good enough to get a draw against Bayern Munich in Germany.

Sad stuff about Bury. They were actually the opponents for the first QPR match at Loftus Road I ever attended. Have always had a little soft spot for them as a result.

It's also why I don't like The EFL Championship - it must be horrible to play in that division.
Sheer desperation and ultra-competitiveness to get out of it or flounder.
You look at the team in the next division, League One, and they'll never see Premiership football again - God knows how many will be eliminated from the league.
Growing up, teams like Coventry City, Ipswich Town, Sunderland, Blackpool, Bristol Rovers, Bolton Wanderers - they all were (then) Division One or at least Division Two teams - Bolton used to get 60,000 in at Burnden Park!

As a football fan it is a great league, very competitive with no plastic supporters, proper fans. However, yes you're right in terms of the financial pressures. Last time I checked I think three-quarters of Championship clubs were operating on losses. To go up you either have to get very lucky, be a relegated big club that can hold on to a few good players for a season in the hope of bouncing straight back, or you have to spend, a lot of the times dangerously beyond your means. It's totally fucked.

No idea what 'tenterhooks' are but whatever they are, im on them & looking at that starting 11 hardly inspires confidence either. An early goal to kill these butterflies, please god. Attack, attack, attack.

Midfielder of the Season.........has to be James Milner or Jordan Henderson or Mane.

No, they gave it to some fucking brothel keeper from Amsterdam.

Here come Frenky the Wong to say the usual platitudes.

"OH yes, I am very surprised we got past Real and Juventus and then spunked our pants with a 3-0 lead vs Tottenham, I can't understand it".

    Good lad Frenky.

Nice to see City getting dragged across Europe a few times.

Spurs group is not too bad but trips to Greece are never easy.

Then there is Chelsea's group...the tightest of them all I surmise.
