Liverpool losing. Firmino goal wrongly chalked off. Mane booked for diving.

I hate these dreary afternoons, nervously trying to negotiate them in the hope LFC don't get beat.

    Two stunners aswell.

Fuck City......barely got past a side that leaked 9 in their last league game.

    Still 6 clear.

Leeds are a decent outfit....didn't expect QPR to get it..........I full expect Blackburn to be in the Champions League next season, at the very least, if not a lot more.

Once Venkys have sorted out the Ronaldinho signing its gonna be fine.

Watched an interview with Sean Dyche earlier, no idea why, but the guy is hilarious, would never have expected it.

Yeah, Dyche is funny. Sort of bloke you'd like as your manager but wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of.

Was anybody watching the Everton-Spurs game? If so, how bad was the challenge? Sounds like it was a really horrific injury.

I watched that "game". It was shit. Clogg is right........it was a totally innocuous foul, the guy went down and as he went down he collided with Aurier.

Never a red card in a million years.

    Yellow at best.

Son was carded cos the guy landed badly and hurt himself, but you could do that bumping into somebody in the street. It wasn't the collision, it was how he fell.

Total freak, and ABSOLUTELY affected the result of the match. Spurs had it won, Everton had done NOTHING all match. Not that Spurs had done much.

Son was out on his feet and that was only from looking at it.

You could tell Son was horrified by it ... I felt for Gomes... that's the kind of injury that can wreck a career

Cheers guys, they won't show the replay of the challenge (for obvious reasons I guess, by all accounts really nasty), but I've seen the reaction of Son and he looked totally devastated. Think I was wondering because of the red card, seems totally out of character as Son isn't a malicious player at all. The reactions seemed similar to Schmeichel after the David Busst injury back in the day, or after Shawcross fucked up Aaron Ramsey.

Leicester could be a big outside bet to win the title, better chance than Chelsea for my money.

With the Liverpool Blinkers off, it's clear that Deluded Brendan doesn't half come out with some gems.

Just saw him on MOTD2 saying that an away win vs Palace was hugely impressive as they were under pressure following their big 9-0 win last time out vs Southampton.

    FFS.

I can kind of see what he's getting at to be honest. When you win by such an extreme scoreline it catches people's attention and expectations rise. Obviously not as much pressure as what Southampton would have felt but I can sort of see what he means.

I think this Leicester side is actually better overall than the side which won the title, but Liverpool and City have stepped it up to another level since then. I can't see them winning the title but as I mentioned before in the thread they have a real chance of top 4. The fact that there are a few players still there from 2016 stands them in good stead to last the course as well. A bit of an edge that another 'outsider' team wouldn't have.

Funnily enough, I remember when Southampton had a good side earlier in the decade, and were in the top 4 for a good chunk of the season before Christmas. I remember they won 8-0 (think it might have been against Sunderland) and people started to talk about them being possible top 4 contenders, it was basically straight after that when the wheels came off. They couldn't quite handle the extra scrutiny and quickly fell out of contention.

"And then I said to the boys that not many sides score 1 goal in 20 minutes against 9 men, and that they could be proud of they-selves, that lots of teams have 2 guys sent off in one minute by a sympathetic referee, and with this comeback , we are basically like Liverpool vs Barcelona or AC Milan, like, it's a comeback of our own innit,it's summink we could be prahd of, like it was the semi final or summink, it makes us big, like, and that people would talk about it for years to come, cos it's one of the ahwl tahm great cumbacks and all it took was 2 penaltys and 2 sendings offs, and sometimes it's hard to play against 9 men for 20 minutes, you lose the run of yourself and forget how to play, it happens to loads of sides".

Seriously guys how would you rate Chelsea's come back?

Against say United vs Juventus, or Liverpool vs AC Milan, isn't it fair to say that Chelsea, vs 9 men, have now proven that they are true comeback kings?

Doesn't it live up with there with the Great British European nights?

Liverpool Olympiakos? Liverpool Barcelona? Ushited vs Bayern?

lol lol lol lol small outfit

Manchester United were exactly in this position in the late 90s/early 00s - everyone hated how they would always make a comeback or equalise in the 89th/90th/91st minute or whatever....but when we look back, they were really a class team.

Ugh. Ok, I'll admit they have some decent young players and Lampard is actually doing alright as manager thus far. Saying that, they had no expectations at all this season so now they're doing a bit better than people expected it doesn't make them a "class team", and they're certainly not comparable to the United side at the turn of the century. As Irish has already said, coming back from behind against 9 men isn't that great an achievement. Ajax had some great chances to nick a 5th even when down in numbers.

I'll say this for Lampard, they're not playing as negative and scummy as they did under the likes of Mourinho, but it's ludicrous to think they're a great side. Also, fuck 'em.
