Benfica are usually among the canniest in the market at generating player profits but we've practically stolen him for £6m and Im certain they already regret agreeing to that clause last year. His career stalled there in 20-21 when a new manager arrived who didnt fancy him but prior to that he was their most highly rated prospect and if theyd theyd played their cards better he'd probably have ended up at a mid-level Spanish or English team for at least double what we're paying. Theyve mamaged to add a 30%-of-profits sell on clause but still an absolute win.

    No Andy Gorams

    RIP.

Just reading that he walked OOT of the Scotland Squad on account of how one JIM LEIGHTON got the nod over him for France 98.

That makes sense. No way Leighton of 98 was better than Goram.

And they probably would have had Marseille not bribed the ref. Bear in mind they were among a handful of the richest sides in Europe at the time. They beat the english champs home and away that year. Really the remarkable thing isnt that they did so well that year but that they shat the bed so ingloriously the following couple of years after signing Laudrup, Gasgoine, that guy from Marseille etc. Thats why im never entirely sold on Walter smith being great shakes

Nah you're wrong Walter the Falter was the GOAT in the same vein as George Graham and Bill Shankly. I know because I saw this great documentary about him on SKY SPORTS after he died. It's usually only after people die that the truth of their brilliance emerges, I've noticed that. :Jest:

Ps fuck all those dodgy Continental clubs. They've got this history, best illustrated by the great Brian Glanville in his book "Champions of Europe" of bribery, blandishments, fixing, skullduggery etc. Demonstrable since the 1960s.

I've even heard the Germany team of 1954 played against Hungary while off their heads on Speed.

Notwithstanding the potential /actual gravity of the overall situation it would indeed be monstrously hilarious if it wss him. Even better would be if Arsenal ain't paid for him yet and refuse to pay for him. Arsenal out their player. City out their money.

My first thought was Partey just because he's a mean looking scary motherfucker. Now they're saying the player is 29 with WC experience. Partey matches up so far.

Don't forget Tottenham players. Partey is on international duty right now. My guess is Ben Davies.

Off topic but do you have plans to go to Everton's new stadium? I'd love to catch a game there by the look of it. I love stadiums.

At the moment, I don't have any plans but eventually I'll get back over there. I went to the UK in '04, every year from '07 -'17 & '20. But after the pandemic I changed jobs. I am not making the money I used to and don't have as much vacation time.

Ah bummer. Similar situation here too. I hope to go back one day. That one trip to London was one of the best times of my life. Walking with other Gooners to the stadium was great. Match was against Tottenham too so can't do much better than that.

If it's Partey and the allegations are true then I hope he gets beaten badly. That said, I don't "believe all women" until it's proven. Lots of bullshit charges, especially against celebrities.
