Great post. I agree completely about your defence and especially Trippier, who I've felt for a long time is one of the most underrated English footballers of recent years. He's fantastic, a great defender, always puts in a shift, and to boot he is superb from set pieces.

Almiron is a weird one for me too, X joked about the Grealish jibe making him a world class player but I legit think there is some truth in it. His transformation has been incredible. It may be a flash in the pan but he really has been exceptional.

Agreed on your forward line, I've always been a fan of Wilson, he's a quality forward but he is just too unreliable due to injuries.

I really wanted Wilson to get a goal in the World Cup, just because of where he's come from (I legit thought his football career was finished after the injuries he suffered at Bournemouth), yet he was unselfish when through on goal to set up a goal for someone else (think it was the Iran game, when Grealish scored). He will obviously not make the next World Cup.

Maddison would be such a great signing for Newcastle, I hope it happens. I like Leicester and will forever respect what they did in 2016, but he's being wasted there now.

My folks got a new kitten after our old cat died last year. Honestly, the speed and agility is absolutely nuts to watch. If a human could harness it in any way they'd be unstoppable. Amongst athletes I would say Roy Jones came the closest but Jesus man, he was still way off.

My brother and sister in law got one last month to deal with a persistent mouse problem.... open the cat basket, within half an hour its trying to claw apart their kitchen skirting board to get at them. Total inbuilt killer instinct. Not a glimpse of a mouse since.

Trippier has been the fulcrum of our turnaround, really. He's been absolutely excellent. I know he was good before he signed but I can't understand why he is so underrated. He's the best English full-back by a mile imo.

I hope to be proven wrong on Almiron but I'm sceptical. Six weeks isn't a transformation. It's a purple patch. Confidence does a lot for a player and he has bagfuls right now. Let's see how he looks in March.

Yeah, it's a shame for Wilson. He's a real good player but you get less than half a season out at of him, every season. I'm hoping Isak comes in and Wilson can be used as an impact player, at least in part to protect him.

Maddison hugely upgrades our attack. I really hope we can get him in.

Primarily because he doesn't play for a big (enough) club and his transfer fee was only 12 million. If he went for some headline grabbing money or went to Real Madrid rather than Atletico he'd be rated much higher. When it comes to these "ratings" who one plays for matter more than how they play.

Indeed, plus the independence. You can go out and have a late night (or more) without having to worry like you've abandoned some needy child.

They have a bad rep. Cats aren't really vicious. They're quite affectionate, and far more independent than dogs. Only downside to having a cat is cleaning up after em.

Absolutely right. I mean, how 'big' does it have to be? Atletico are big enough to be part of the 'Super League 12'? Anyway, fuck 'em. They'll learn...

Dirty Chelsea strikes again. Apparently they just tapped up Enzo with no intention of hitting the release clause of 125m, offering 85m. They turned his head and now he doesn't want to play with Benfica.

    So far this season :

Rangers have had 9 penalities awarded, zero against.

Celtic have had 2 penalties awarded, 5 against.

That fits a persistent pattern where Rangers have had 4x as many net penalty awards over the last 5 seasons. (+33 vs +8). For comparison, over that period Real have had +22 and Barca +20. Man City and Liverpool are likewise neck and neck.

And Celtic consistently outperform Rangers in terms of possession, touches in the box, xg, goals scored. You'd expect them to have more, not less.

The probability of this happening by sheer chance would be...very low.:emoji_tangerine:

If the little cunt doesn't play, he's in breach of contract. Never quite understood why clubs don't just sue these cunts.

Because they are going to sell him for 90 million instead.

Which means they lose, what, £35m that they are contractually entitled to?

No, they gain 90 million for a player that didn't cost them much in the first place. The release clauses are supposed to be deterrent for teams, that's why they are usually priced super high.

Yeah, totally caught me off guard as well. An iconic player and a favourite of mine growing up. Even when he went to that lot, I couldn't dislike him.
