They really aren't helping themselves with their recent form but I would like to see Villa make the Champions League. Mainly because it's always fun to see a new face in there, and also because they're a legitimately great club with a lot of history and are a good team. I think they'd do quite well too, better than Tottenham would anyway.

Excellent manager, no doubt about that. Great craic when winning, a bullying snide when he's not. Be glad when he's gone.

They were a defensive shambles last night. Hardly bodes well for a likely CL campaign next year...

Only to then show zero class whatsoever in the interview afterwards, closely followed by trying to intimidate the referee later in the game.

He's another one I've lost the time for. Time for him to fuck off to Saudi and see how he gets on there.

Aye, cannot argue with any of that. He'd be a multiple title winning manager in almost any other era. Great manager and a total bellsniff.

Let's face it.....Villa are at the end of a very very hard season of high achievement with low resources and in Emery have a manager who will know how to sign good players and negotiate European ties. He's got, for example, a lot more experience than Eddie Howe. Plus they'll have a few quid.

Will they win it? No. But there is no guarantee they'll be total shit.

This is a team that just beat title-chasing Arsenal at Emirates. They've got good players..

Again regards Klopp, I'll only miss him results wise. Won't miss him apart from that. Too "passionate". Too much running around and getting involved. The perfect manager would be Benitez tactical acumen and retreating personality, plus Klopps energy and risk-taking.

Id love Benetiz to take a wee run at Celtic before he retires. He'd enjoy it & we might actually win a couple of games in Europe

He'll get you into the Europa and then some. Plus I'd like to see him win another league and just be successful, generally. Retiring with a Champs League,Europa League, two La Ligas an Fa Cup and a Scots Prem isn't shabby.

Indeed. In truth, it's been a non-season for us. I wrote it off in November, when it became clear that we had the worst injury list I've ever seen at any club. We currently have one for centre-half, and it's Dan Burn FFS

That we're still in good shape for a Europa place this season is a testament to how absolutely terrible all but four teams in this league are.

Villa have generally been excellent this season. Their Achilles heel is the suicidal high line Emery always plays. Eddie has had him sussed this season; we have two wins at an 8-2 aggregate score against them. The Greek side figured it out, too. Cannot see Villa clawing that deficit back.

    They won't.....

Ps I hate the high line too.

    I'd sooner win 1-0 than 4-3

    4-0

You know what......the odds were right down to 6/5 on Palace before the game and I wonder what that was about.

Palace have been playing well lately. Took apart West Ham & Newcastle.

    Man U? Not so much.

Yes but that's rarely been enough to bunch the odds that starkly. Maybe 2/1.

Dortmund is like 20 mins away from advancing to the final. Could potentially be looking at an all German final.

The mainstream media that wanted to see Mbappe vs Madrid is not gonna be happy.

Still can't believe they made the final. In 2013 when they did, they had a really strong squad. I liked their chances against anybody that year.

Don't see them beating RM or Bayern but it's nice they brushed P$G aside.

That Dortmund win feels like a Liverpool win. I really felt that. It was old school, kick it, block it, ride your luck, grab your chances.

People will say "woodwork" but Paris were being rushed into the shots and not being allowed to place shots.

Felt like Liverpool Chelsea 2005 2nd leg.
