    Yeah Toney was excellent when he came on. I'd keep Palmer out on the right too.

    Yeah England really did get out of jail but that's the worst of it over with for now . Southgate has finally passed whatever golf ball was lodged in his bowels. He'll find a way Vs Switzerland.

    The problem is I think he will see it as vindication of his management rather than a lucky escape. He just seems completely oblivious to the absolutely justified criticism levelled at him.

    Ok.i think the forum basically is saying 3 things:-

    * It will get worse

    * Nothing will fundamentally change

    * England will springboard to greatness (Me)

    Sofa. Behind the sofa. Over the sofa. Sofa. It's sofas. Not sofa infested, but.....none of the locals go sofa surfing. I know how to deal with sofas. You punch them right in the fucking upholstery.

    It is palpable, the difference between how Spain responded to going behind Vs Georgia and how England responded vs Slovakia
    ......and this Georgia side are a sharper outfit than Slovakia....imho

    Never give a sucker an even break. If England are suckers, they're suckers that can still grab the silver and be over the fence before you know it.

    I still think England have the most talented squad in the tournament.

    From here it goes two ways:

    The luck runs out and we're gone. If the Swiss play like they did against Italy and England play like they did today, we lose, not a doubt in my mind, and it could be ugly.

    We FINALLY play to our potential and actually turn up in this tournament. There have been glimpses of it at certain moments but they are way too few and far between.

    The constant dropping deep after the taking the lead, the slow as molasses build up play, the lack of off the ball movement, its obviously coming from the top down. Which means I have to be honest and say the former scenario is much more likely right now. I would LOVE to be wrong, but they've given me no reason to believe it will suddenly just click.

    I watched Spain Vs Georgia and was not hugely impressed. Lot of missed chances and over egged pudding passes.

    There are no monsters out there. That's why all England have to do is click a bit and keep bumbling on yet.

    Everton just signed an ex QPR lad. You guys had him on loan for a year. I'll have to look up his name. A Nigerian-English midfielder.

    Bellingham had the cheek to say the players are hearing a lot of rubbish from fans and media and is convinced that they played well yesterday against Slovakia. They're so ignorant.

    Last time I called you on that you blamed your phone.

    Now you've got me thinking about the Blur song, "He Thought of Cars." In the lyrics, a lot of people think a certain line is a drug reference. But the Columbia spelling instead of Colombia deflates that. Is it possible that band just misspelled the country and that's how the lyrics were printed?

    And now I am reminded of Oasis' song, "Columbia" off their first LP, Definitely Maybe.

    One spelling mista...er...typo and now I'm on a full on Britpop kick. I guess that's not the worst thing in the world.

    There's more reason on the evidence of tonight's game that England's chances to win this tournament are still quite good.

    Portugal and France have laboured.

    Huff and Puff. England have nothing to fear here . Jota wins a penalty after 5 hours of play.

    They say Penaldo is crying because he missed his penalty kick.

    Nah. He misses his camel back in Saudi Arabia.

    So.....every team England laboured against has made somebody else labour likewise. Time to get the bunting out and plan for a day off in 2 weeks.
