Oyarzabal is Spain's leading scored and missed a one on one with the keeper. Golden opportunity missed.

Belgium are still crafty, but yeah I expect USA to outrun them.

Tight match as expected. Spain looked slightly better.

Spain are a frustrating team to watch at times. They’ll create a brilliant chance, but can’t finish. Also not enough off the ball movement, players just standing there, static.

This is gonna come down to the wire.

Yeah it's certainly not the best Spain you've ever seen. Obviously not as good as their apex years but they seem to have regressed since winning the Euro beating Germany, France and England one after the other.

Portugal forced to sub due to injury. I saw Emmit Smith in the crowd. They should have called him down.

Slow tactical game with very little chances. I picture Ronaldo getting on the end of something and putting it in.

    Ugh.

You could have somebody who has never played football and they wouldn't have any trouble with Spain's shots on target thus far.

I wish Ronaldo was Nicaraguan or Estonian so we'd never have to see him at world cup.

Portugal have been playing with 10 men, not exactly a fresh take, but he's not even much of a target anymore because he makes so few runs

If he got subbed off and the player replacing him scored two quick ones and won the game he'd pretend to be happy but inside he's be seething.

The trouble is that Portugal don't even know how to create scoring opportunities in these kinds of games because the game plan has been based on creating v specific changes for a moving statue

What are you talking about? He did move into a lot of offside positions.

Ronaldo probably took note of the red card being overturned.

He's going to call both Trump and Infantino whining and crying about how it's not fair that Messi got a world cup and not him.

Both teams were embarrassing in terms of shooting until Merino finally finished. Oyarzabal really missed a sitter early on, and I think the rest of the guys just didn’t have a clue on how to properly shoot.

Good on Spain that they showed heart to finally put them away but this wasn’t a good showing.

I don't know that Spain showed any "heart", they just had a sub come in bury a good chance.

Everybody thought it would be a close game, but not such a boring one. Regardless of who won I don't think any remaining side would fear either of them.

The fear factor is gone from the glory years. But yeah the game was definitely boring.

Spanish press (cool temp helped) and defence looked v good though and they can still hold on to the ball better than any other team in the competition. That will count for a lot, even if the quality dips a lot and Yamal is way off what he was like in previous 2-3 years

Trump probably believes he did everybody a favour. He genuinely believes that. I'm sure of it. Now he'll get upset because he's not getting "the credit"... "I rigged it, nobody thanked me, Arnold Rothstein rigged the World Series and he's famous".

I wonder if the sales of Belgian waffles have went down while Apple pile has went up today.

Punk gave Fightbeat's chief economic reporter the day off so we might not know until tomorrow.

Spain did well today. Very Cagey side. If they can keep on being tight like this they got a great chance. I'm not sure they're all that though.
