If we can get back on subject here: I don’t know why but I just don’t give a fuck about Shaft. I never watched one of those films and despite the fact I love Sam Jack I won’t even watch the trailer for this one.

You're not missing much... He was compelling and fun to watch as always in the 90s one but it's not a memorable film

The Shaft 2000 version by John Singleton was unmemorable except for Bale & Wright. It tried to hard to be cool and it looked amateurish in some parts. It was a mild box office hit that was only able to recoup its investment, but that was it. On the other hand the trailer for this new one looks fun.

    Watched it last night.
For Netflix, it's actually worth watching but it is more a non-PC comedy more than anything.

Rare that I agree with you, but I agree on this.

Singleton's Shaft was mediocre, with the lone bright spot being Wright's performance.

Bale was nothing special in Shaft - certainly not one of his better performances.

Wright was the thing that made that movie mediocre, cause without him it would have been trash.

But I think that Bale's over-the-top spoiled rich baddie was entertaining too. I watched this film only once to be honest and it was cringe worthy at times. Wright deserved an Oscar for his performance without a doubt.
