Fundora seems like a sweet kid. Hope he gets outta this game with all his faculties, but his defense is so horrible that I worry. This won't be his last brutal KO loss.

History shows that if you're gonna have an atrocious defense, you had better have a granite chin.

Fundora has an abysmal defense, weak chin, AND isn't a banger.

I don't like his future in this sport.

I wouldnt say fundora got a weak chin

Maybe after that brutality it will be more vulnerable. He should go up to 168

Had a feeling Fundora was gonna get knocked out at some point, he always seems vulnerable and tonight proved it. Glad to see him take the loss like a champ and showing graciousness in defeat, he’s a good kid. We’ll see if he can bounce back after a KO loss like that.

    168??????

    For what? To die?

He doesn't have a super middleweight frame. He's tall, but he's not built like a super middle. Is he even struggling to make 154? If he's not, then I would say come back for a soft touch at junior middle. I could see a move to 160, but no sense going up at 168 against guys who are far far too strong for him.

Throwing an uppercut from the middle of last week seems a rookie mistake. It needed three punches to take him out,and he still wasn't out, but the way he hung in mid air was brutal.

His chin isn't weak per se but he's getting hit in a fashion that exacerbates the inherent vulnerability all boxers have.

He was unfortunate the way he hung there in mid air for those two free shots.

If he crashed down directly he'd have been better off

No clue yet. By time Shakur reaches 140, Regis might be declining. Regis is no spring chicken.

P4P, Prograis is not the natural talent that Shakur is. He's a bigger hitter tho.

Ridiculous stoppage, but Stevenson looked really good and much more offensive minded than usual, though he was basically in against a punching bag.

Fundora getting koed like that was really shocking. Didn't liked the way he just sat there while getting counted out. Seemed like he just mentally decided that he wanted out more than him being out. Hard to predict his future in boxing. Will it be like Hurd, were a loss basically shattered him, or will he be able to bounce back. If it s the later, he'll definitely need to improve on the defense.

Contrary to Xplosive, I think a move up to 168, even 175, wouldn't be a bad idea. He'll still be ridiculously tall for those weight classes and he'd be much stronger, providing he gets on the Overeem diet. Plus, fighting slower fighter means there's much less chance of him getting caught blind like this again

I think Fonfara is absolutely doomed if he moved up to 168-175. Any world level operator with power would catch him with the same kind of shots that iced him last night. He got beaten by a journeyman FFS.

Ask yourself, who does Fonfara have a better chance against - Tim Tszyu and Charlo or Benavidez and Morrell?

    I rest my case.

True, 168 lbs is stacked and you're right that his odds of beating those 2 would be lower than a Charlo or Tzyu. Nonetheless, if he bulks up properly, I think his flaws might be easier to camouflage against slower fighters

Depends, he might be a stronger guy at the higher weight. But it's his defensive flaws that will ruin him. No matter how strong you are you can't keep getting hit by punches like that. It's not like he was facing some guy who had mad feet and kept kept getting inside.

Fonfara is built more like Paul Williams than Tommy Hearns.

Hearns was built like all fuck in the upper body/shoulders/chest region, and therefore had the frame to handle as high as 175. Tommy was a BIG guy.

Fonfara and Paul Williams are just tall, lanky guys. They ain't especially big. They can handle as high as 160, but that's about it.

A move up to middle might not be too bad in the future, but if Fundora can still make 154 I fail to see why he wouldn't go for the rematch. Go for a rematch and train like he's in with the best fighter in the world. If he blows him out then he can pretty much get back on track, albeit with little momentum. If he moves up, he's left nowhere.

Regardless of frame, a guy at 6'5 or so weighing little more than a Buck, Fifty is sacrificing ability. Whether they're cutting too much or simply have no base of muscle to develop their athleticism; they simply are losing something. However, is this something worth throwing away a colossal size advantage, and facing fighters 20+lbs facing? No, not at all IMO.

If he did move up, he'd lose a lot of his advantages in length and start facing guys who may even be heavier than him on fight night; who all hit harder and are much stronger than everyone at 154. With his chin not being good at 154, he's doomed at 168. And the guys who've landed on him now aren't faster than Bena or Canelo. And they definitely don't hit as hard.

If Fundora wants a world title, 154 is his way there. Or more probably, moving up for a vacant title fight against the 73rd best middleweight in the world.

I honestly dunno. Shakur seems generational, but Regis is far better than anyone he's faced, on top of being a lot bigger.

It certainly seems like Shakur is gonna be a level above Regis, but I don't think we'll know for sure until we see him fight the Haney-Loma winner. We'll know his true level then.

I'm pretty confident he WILL beat the Haney-Loma winner, but can never be certain until it actually happens.

I dont see how the outcome of Stevenson vs lomachenko or haney has any bearing on a matchup against prograis. Totally different styles

True, I'm really just saying I have no idea.

Shakur looks like he's gonna be the P4P #1 pretty soon, but as of now his best win is Valdez. Regis is a lot better than Valdez, and he's bigger.

However, if you really wanna force this outta me... I'd probably take Stevenson. I think he's a special fighter. Regis is very good, but short of being special.

I think Stevenson would win also

It would be the type of ambitious move to expedite his ascent to the throne

No one is anxious to face him. Same for prograis. If Stevenson wanted it he could get that title shot at 140 in the summer

Geographically it'd be cool if Shakur takes the P4P title.

    The NY-ish area hasn't had a P4P #1 since Mike.

Hopkins was P4P #1, but Philly is different. Newark is like a fucked up first cousin of NYC.

If he beat prograis decisively where would that put him in the rankings ?

If that happened and Lopez kod taylor, how big would that fight be later this year ?
