    Hard to Dispute that...

Floyd Beat Dela EARLIER & @ a BETTER Weight...Floyd Beat Hatton when he was UNDEFEATED (Though U Can Argue that Pac Beat him @ a BETTER Weight) & Floyd Beat Shane @ a Time when MANY Thought Floyd would DUCK Him...

Sure, Pac has Disposed of the Common Opponents More IMPRESSIVELY, but Floyd has Beaten BETTER VERSIONS of those Common Opponents...Even in the Case of Hatton, it was a Weight that Hatton HIMSELF Requested & there Can B NO Comparison to Facing a Guy w/his "0" Intact, vs. Facing him AFTER a KO Loss....

    THIS...

MANY of the Same Guys IN THIS VERY THREAD, Said Floyd would "DUCK Mosley"...EVERYBODY Got All Excited After Shane's WWE Styled "Calling Out" of Floyd, after the Marquez Fight...It was even Said that "Shane BACKED Floyd Into a Corner"...

PERCEPTION is REALITY...The Perception of the Shane Mosley that Floyd Beat was MUCH GREATER than the Perception of the Shane Mosley that Pac will Face...

Whatever, Floyd still doesn't have enough balls even to fight a heavily damaged Margarito or a fading Cotto.

    antonio diaz huh? :atu:

did you miss the bout where margarito beat the dog shit out of diaz?

as far as margarito being the hardest bout of pacquiao's career, Im simply quoting the source.

Man I was hoping Pac would fight Berto.

Although I knew it was unlikely with Hayman being Berto's manager. Berto has momentum/alphabet belt/undefeated record. Pac would destroy Berto, but its still a fight I wanted to see.

All counter-balanced by the fact Pacquiao has pursued those rivals by making weight-jumps Mayweather would never have even dreamed of. Quickly forgotten, yet highly-pertinent, fact.

Absolutely. But if I had told you in 2002, after Mayeeather struggled with Castillo, that Floyd would eventually move up to 154 to beat Oscar, you probably would have said I was crazy.

Maybe in 2002. But if you were to say that in 5 years he would move up and fight an old Hoya who lost to Mosely, Arguably lost to Sturm, Lost to Hopkins, and beat Ricardo Mayorga, i would believe you.

Yeah, and many of those same guys in this thread also said it was highly possible that Mosley would show his age in that fight which is just what happened.

You Floyd groupies can't make this black and white. The world is grey. If you guys can't acknowledge that Shane was stumbling all over the ring and completely unable to throw decent punches but still think it's the same version that fought Floyd, I don't know what to tell you.

I don't think Pacquiao has any intention to MEAT his opponents.

It's nowhere near as big a jump from prominence between 122/126lbs. & 154.

Actually at this point Manny will get some flack, no matter who he faced besides mayweather. specially if he beat his opponent lopsidedly

I see your point "however" I've yet to hear anyone take away credit from Glen Johnson because he sparked Roy four months after Tarver.

if anything, Johnson beat up and KO'd Roy in a more violent fashion than Tarver.

I did. I felt Tarver's KO ruined Roy. Man was scared to get hit.

johnson shouldnt get much credit at all. tarver wrecked jones jr, and it could be said he did so in the first fight. johnson got a shell shocked jones jr and an under trained version at that.

Pacquiao hasn't fought anyone at 154.

The difference between 130/135 to 154 and 122/126 to 147 (or 150) isn't all that huge. Don't get me wrong, Pacquaio's weight jumping is probably the most impressive thing I've ever witnessed in my years as a boxing fan... but it's easy to forget that years ago, Mayweather was looked at as a small lightweight.

Not my point. Besides, half the board picked Oscar.

But he has fought an opponent higher than that. It doesnt matter what Mayweather looked like. He has fought no one. He has ducked the best opposition at 147.

Nah, Margarito weighed in at 150. Not '54. My point is, albeit to a lesser degree, Floyd is a pretty major weight jumper too. And while agree that Floyd has left a lot to be desired at 147, the fact is he's defeated that division's champion on two separate occasions.

Well what is your point? Half the board picked Mayweather. Floyd's been fighting at 140 and above since 05. He has adjusted. Manny's first fight above 135 was against DLH in 08. And manny has already fought guys bigger than Mayweather. Fought guys mayweather has ducked.

It doesnt matter, he weighed 165 on the night he fought pac. Technically it doesnt count, but the fact remains that little pac fought a fucking super middleweight that night. Mayweather's jump isnt nearly as impressive. again, he has fought nobody. DLH's only definitive win was against Mayorga the four fights prior to Mayweather.

It gets pretty ANNOYING, we sit here arguing about their resumes, while their fight is once again put on the back burner.

It INFURIATES me of talk of a Mayweather tune up because he has been avoiding the best opponent of his career.

Right now Marquez is my preffered opponent for Pacquaio @ 147. If Mosley hadn't drew with Mora, then he would be more viable.

Pacquaio is the common denominator and CARRYING boxing.

De la Hoya is a better jr middleweight than Margarito is. Mayorga was the fight prior which was the best Oscar looked in years.

So what? DLH was a losing streak IMO. I dont count that shitty mayorga fight. Fact is that Pac was smaller fighting guys bigger than DLH was. Mayweather has had way more time to settle into these weights than Pac.

Well, I would say 2007 154 Oscar is a better fighter than 2010 150 Margarito, but either way.... I'm not suggesting Floyd's weight jumping is as impressive as Pacquiao's. It isn't. I'm just trying to inject a little objectivity into this forum.

I'm a journalist man, I like to look at both sides.
