Geez, you guys don't get it at all. The harder training is for when you're trying to get down to the bodyweight you want to be at. From there you maintain. I doubt that LOK is planning on training as hard for the rest of his life. He wants to get down to his fighting weight.:lol:

    :lol::lol::lol:

you are really making me laugh TD>. lol.. I don't know if you are trying to or not

    come on "Obsessed"

it is all how you look at it..

I mentioned breathing and walking.. granted that is a reach as you don't "think" about those..But tha's what I'm getting at.. just doing some exercise daily..

it is not obession.. it is just exercise your body everyday.. IMO that is what we are built for.. not to sit on our ass and plan out splits.. Chest and tris.. back and bi's.. shoulders.. and legs.. LOL.., THAT im "MY" view is obessing.. I'm talking about a much more relaxed view on it..

simple.. I wake up in the morning, I do some chins and pushups.. and bridging.. it is simply getting your blood flowing and using your body a bit

this is coming from a former Gym Rat too! I was a personal trainer as you know and LOVED the gym...
but I started to look at it differently.. people planning their workout splits.. running on treadmills.. I feel like they looked like hamsters on a wheel..

we are built to MOVE through the world..

so.. it is far from obession.. I hardly think about it.. I just "do it" throughout the day to keep my body healthy and strong

As soon as I hit 175-180, I'll dial back the cardio, but I have dropped about 23lbs since I started training, and I'm likely to drop it faster now because my endurance is up. I'm getting myself into all-time great shape with regards to my strength AND cardio. That isn't unhealthy or obsessed, but just a goal that motivates me to get healthier and to develop a lower level of bodyfat in the meantime.

If, at age 36, I can be in all-time best shape, there's no harm in it. My resting heartbeat is 52-56 beats per minute. My blood pressure is down, which is really important because high blood pressure runs in my family. No clogged arteries, heart enzymes are all good. Kidneys functioning as normal. In fact, most of my readings are getting towards the athletic end of the spectrum according to my doctor.

Or I could sit on a couch and eat Big Macs like Hanzy.

Problem with guys like you is you neglected much of your life, drinking and eating it all away. Now that you're a family man with kids, you have a different scope on life. You're looking at the long term where you want to play with your kids when they're adults, etc. Therefore you're now more conscious about your health and future. That's ok, it's normal. I know other people who think the same way. It was different when they were independent and could f*ck around at bars and party all the time in their younger days.
Welcome to adulthood! :bears: As for me, I don't need to go nuts about training and cardio. Nobody in my family in any generation ever had a heart attack or suffered a stroke or had high blood pressure. Hell even my granny is 81 and still travelling the world. I'll be fine, even with my Big Macs:) I'll be here 4 Life, photoshopping your asses into the ground as only I can!!!!

My job is independent of my health. I know that I could do a regimen like Buddy's and I'd still be pissed off every morning knowing I'm working a crap low paying job.
How is more energy going to make me feel better? It's not like there's new opportunities opening up in my working life.:dunno: Stress is stress. Living healthy won't make me richer will it?

    "Stress" is bullshit..

it is self created.. coming from a negative view on life.. from a sick mind..
being healthy and in shape helps your body and mind

    Um, no.

I went to college, went to university, became a teacher, and then won a federal competition to become a nationally-published social researcher and policy analyst for the federal government, which I've done for years now. Along the way I got engaged, married, had a son with my wife, and also brought her mom, brother, and sister from the East Coast to come and live with us for a few years when her mom was divorcing her dad (looking after her family for a few years and making sure the kids got into university on scholarships because we pushed them to study). I've probably achieved a lot more than you have, and although I don't normally brag, I've hardly neglected my life.

I've been a family man for a long time. You just didn't whine like this when I was just pushing heavy weights because it didn't remind you of how fat and slovenly you are. "Problem with guys like you" is that you have to slag others for pursuing their goals. LOK and I talk training, and we also help others with training advice gained from our experience. Face it, Hanzy. This is the training forum, and all you do in here is try to talk crap about people who are training hard. :dunno:

Maybe you should do something with your life instead of whining on a messageboard? Maybe you shouldn't bash others for making themselves happy when you're not? There's the real issue, Hanzy. The negativity isn't about our routines. It's clear you're just not happy.

Stress isn't self created. You'd know something about stress if one day you get a phone call that your daughter got taken to the hospital after falling down the f*ckin' stairs and breaking her legs. No amount of chin ups and jogging 5-6 miles daily will help you there.

Hanzy.. of course you are taking it to the extreme..

    and even in that case..

the action "a loved one falling down the stairs" just happens..

you can act on it and do what is right

the "stress" is in your head and only hurts matters

Stress IS self created.. it is how you respond to things.. it is an extra un-needed thing..

You can train as hard as you like. Face it. You guys are self-important with inflated egos, constantly patting yourselves on the back thinking you're better than everybody else and constantly talking sh*t about how most awesome and great you are cause you lift a few weights and run a bit to keep the pounds off your ageing asses.
If everybody on the forum trained, then you cats wouldn't consider yourselves as being so relevant.
I don't need to do 1000 pushups daily or run 6 miles every morning or follow a strict diet. I do what I want. Eat and drink as much as I like. Never had any physical problems or sicknesses. I'm rock solid tough, f*ckin old school farmer genes where I can live eating off the herbs and vegetables we grow in the fields! Not some typical sick weak american in need of health care.

We're self-important with inflated egos because we talk to each other and others about training? Damn, you have one hell of an inferiority complex, Hanzy. You have part of it right though. When LOK achieves a goal, I would definitely give him a pat on the back. Friends support friends. Heck, if more people on the forum talked about their training, I'd likely with them about it as well.:dunno: I don't see where you get this "thinking you're better than everybody else and constantly talking sh*t about how most awesome and great you are". That is the venom of unhappiness and envy, Hanzy. If it didn't matter to you, you wouldn't be so upset about us just talking about exercise. Show us where we talk about how awesome we are and how much better we are than other people?

[IMG] It's obvious you're upset that we're happy and doing what we want to do. You obviously feel some need to bitch about us or our training. Maybe you should ask yourself why? :dunno:

Oh yeah, you're a farmer eating herbs you grow in the fields and living off the land. The closest you come to that is eating "11 Herbs and Spices" in Colonel Sander's secret recipe. I didn't realize so many herbs went into Big Macs.

    LOL!!!!!

Hanzy.. I can only speak for myself here but you are soo wrong!

I speak with Buddy all the time as we both share an interest in this.. when do I "brag" ? lol

it has nothing to do with Ego in my case.. it has to do with pushing my SELF and getting better each year..

I have to admit it got more serious for me after my stroke 2 years ago.. even though I was in shape then and my "shape" had nothing to do with it.. I just think Health is important.

it really blows my mind how much people DONT exercise!! people all over complain about everything and they dont take care of their bodies

I dont see why you even care what we do?

it is not bragging.. it's not self inflated ego..

it is just sharing "training and conditioning" ideas in a forum, under the sub-section of "Training and conditioning" imagine that?

I mean.. if you dont train or want to stay in shape.. why do you even care? why come in and talk trash..?

Buddy and I talk it.. here and outside of the forum..

TD (pink weights and all) ;) talks it and exercises..

let the people that care about it talk about it..

if you think it takes over our life... well.., taht is a strange opinion but you can think whatever you want.. if it did. who cares? it doesn't matter what we do in your life does it?

Stress is when you're living on $1 a day and trying to feed your whole family which is the case of about a billion people in this world. Stress is when you go to the doctor and they tell you something you don't want to hear. Stress is when you can't pay your bills. Stress is when your house burns down and everything you ever possessed in your life is gone! Stress is life! You live in a bubble if you don't know what stress is. No amount of chin ups is gonna help you there.
There's a way of keeping it under control as Buddy said, to work out and try to think positively. Since working out can help relieve stress to a degree. But working out isn't going to solve life's problems either. It can help sooth the pain for a few hours but there are far many more problems people have to deal with.
I agree though that many people are fat and lazy but there are many who aren't who still can't make ends meet. Working out and jogging doesn't pay the bills.

Why wouldn't it matter? If you died or something, what purpose would I have left in my life here at fightbeat? I'd get bored posting on here. Your absence would affect me for sure!
I agree with you that people whine and complain a lot. Most people normally do cause they're generally raised as bitches and they need to visit doctors once a week cause they're such pussies. Look at Americans constantly crying about their precious Health Care.

Look at your bitch asses trying to be smart with your Big Mac jokes. Another case of disrespect towards your fellow members. That's where I'm sensing your inflated ego. Patting yourselves on the back and demeaning others. How much clearer can I make my point? It's all in your post.
You think you're better than everybody on here. Well you aren't. I don't give a sh*t if you train and run or went to university or work for the government. What difference would that make to my life or anybody else's life?
Hell I'd like to see just how high on your priority list your strict training regiment would be if your house burned down. I'm sure you'd be reworking your 'To Do' list there, and doing 1000 push ups would rate pretty low on that list then eh?

So then what the f*ck would I act like? The Terminator? Would I just do 1000 hindu pushups to mend my spirit when i found out my whole family died in a plane crash?:laughing:

You're the one who claimed to eat Big Macs all the time, and one of those photos you posted had a Big Mac box in it. Gee, you feel I disrespect you Hanzy? Like photoshopping you with gay men, perhaps? If I were to do that, that would be disrespectful, wouldn't it? [IMG]

Poor Hanzy. He's so respectful to Lok and to me. And here I treat him with such disrespect in return. Why, even though Hanzy started whining about our exercise routines, we were so harsh to reply with equally unkind comments...I feel the shame, Hanzy...of this, I am certain. I don't know what came over me, but I think you need a hug now.[IMG]

It's obvious you're just not happy, and you're acting out on a messageboard. Cheer up, Hanzy. Your job and life can't be that shitty, can they? [IMG]

And by the way, Hanzy. I only posted about university and my work because you said I neglected my life. Obviously that's not true. [IMG]

Hanzy.. I'm saying.. it's a different way to look at things..

of course your whole family dying in a plane crash is pretty extreme.. but daily things in life.. work.. etc.. do not have to put such a mental strain on you..

I wasn't ever whining about your exercise routines, fool. I was saying a lot of it was pointless bullsh*t. I was talking to Tyler and from the results he achieved 2 years ago where he followed a diet/training plan(his thread got deleted) showing his improvements. He didn't have to do 1000s of pushups and chin ups and run his ass off daily.
Like I said. 30 minutes treadmill and maybe 45 minutes weights 3 times a week is just fine.
As for me, I can eat Big Macs and still go out and play soccer or rugby without worrying about any injury or needing an oxygen mask. I'm hardcore baby!!!!

LOK knows what my issue is. We were talking a couple weeks back. My computer has a dud power supply causing my system to reboot. I have to fix this asap. I got on chat and wrote one post before I got rebooted.
