Fuck Floyd for the way he's handled his career since 2007. And for that matter, Pacquiao isn't blameless either. I think Floyd, Bob, and Manny are all to blame for the fight not taking place. And so are we for being enablers and paying $$ for bullshit fights so both of them can make "easy" money against softer opposition.

Floyd's got a lot more than Manny to worry about when his career ends. The names Margarito and Cotto too, not to mention a very real pattern of hand picked easy opposition (which continues to this day I might add) will also be examined whenever his name is brought up. I still can't believe the lack of criticism Floyd got for fighting Ortiz.

I call BS on this.

Floyd's last fight did 1.5 million PPV buys.

Pac did 1.4 million buys (and 35,000 or so paid attendance) for his Nov '10 fight against an end-of-his-career Margarito. He then followed it up with 1.3 million buys and a sold-out arena for his May fight w/ a version of Shane who hasn't won a fight in over two years.

His fight w/ Marquez is already on pace to sell out well before the opening bell.

The only teling stat so far is that Floyd/Shane wasn't a sellout and supposedly massive amounts of tickets are being given away for this weekend's card.

Floyd is a PPV king but doesn't quite pack in the live audience, whereas Pac still brings 'em in no matter the medium (and apparently, the opponent).

The reason they remain really the only two true stars in the sport? Because you can't mention one without bringing up the other.

Sadly, it might take for one of them to lose in order for the fight to finally get made (I personally believe the fight will never happen). But regardless, there will always be a market for such an event if/when it ever takes place.

Are you implying the CIA is the reason behind the fight not happening? They're worried if Mayweather wins it could cause such a mourning in the Phillipines and other parts of South Asia that the people would not go to work, and America would not get it's products from the fruits of cheap labor?

I'm really surprised that anyone, especially so called real boxing fans still think like this. That their heros are unbeatable immortals sent from God or some shit.
