Kathleen Kennedy Is Still The Best Person To Make 'Star Wars' Movies

Rumors surfaced this week that Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy might step down from company leadership in the aftermath of Solo: A Star Wars Story'sbox office failure. This comes amid rampaging racism, sexism, and other extreme toxic behavior from a segment of mostly male (and mostly white) fans who've taken to harassing female actors and artists for existing. This is all part of a larger bigoted backlash of complaints against Star Wars for incorporating people of color and other types of diversity into the previously predominantly white male storytelling...

 

Agreed. Pure coincidence. Blaming a non A-list actor like EC for a film bombing at the box office is like blaming a waiter for a restaurant going out of business.

Now if one were to argue that every film she was in sucked, one might have a stronger argument but even then, outside factors such as bad writing, directing, production, and editing all have a much bigger impact on how good a film is. If one wanted to criticize Emilia Clarke, her personal acting is the only place they could justifiably do so.

 

Didn't you guys paid attention to what I wrote? I am not placing 'Soylo's failure on Emilia Clarke's shoulders. I just mentioned that we can't ignore her box office track record 'curse' (which I am sure you guys, like me, don't believe in such thing). I am not saying she was in movies that sucked neither (I actually enjoyed her chick flick from two years ago...and that one made money). By bringing Clarke's name I was just adding one of many elements that might have contributed to the film's financial failure. Some people just get turned off by certain tv actors and apparently if Emilia doesn't have a silver blonde wig most people will pass her films.

Just saying!

 

I personally think she’d be a net positive over a net negative as far as bringing in revenue. There are a lot more idiot dudes who would check out her films just based on her being hot as opposed to anyone being turned off by her acting. I personally don’t think she even has a negative reputation as an actor and it isn’t like she’s been in a lot of major films to even judge by.

 

Well, because of Game of Thrones she was viewed by many in the industry as a force to be reckoned with. However that hasn't translated to her big screen choices in big budget films. She hit big with 'Me Before You' romantic melodrama and apparently that is the niche she is more suitable for from fan's point of view.

 

None of the Game of Thrones actors have had big screen success.

 

Nevertheless, the answer I gave is the one that pertains to your question...

 

Except maybe Dinklage.

 

In supporting roles, yes.

 

Dinklage has been in two movies that bombed bad too.
