Not 10 times but , he did clinch a lot.
I don't think there is much debate there.

Why are you asking me this ? Are you looking to start meaningless bullshit in deffense of PBF ?

You should never take anything Sly says about Mayweather seriously.

No one nowadays other than De La Hoya can sell PPVs by himself. And even Oscar needs a reasonably big name to do REALLY good numbers. DLH's fights with Castillejo, Campas, and Sturm did around the 350-450 area.

Well, because you said it earlier.

Neil was talking about people not believing the b.s. they say.

I know not even someone as biased as you would seriously think that Mayweather-DLH was as much (or a lot more) of a clinchfest as Hatton-Urango.

You keep saying that Floyd can't draw by himself, but who else is going to pull in 300,000 against someone like Baldomir? Hopkins-Wright - two future HOF'ers - drew less than Floyd-Baldomir.

Gatti's only PPV appearance came against Floyd. (360,000). And anyone who paid attention to the pre-fight can vouch that it was Floyd selling it the whole way. Gatti brought the crowd at the Boardwalk, but there's nothing to indicate that he's also responsible for the solid (not great, but solid) PPV turnout.

Cotto-Judah (225,000) drew 150,000 LESS than Floyd-Judah (375,000). Again, Judah - coming off of a severe meltdown against Baldomir - disappearing up until fight week, leaving Floyd (and of course, Arum) to do all of the legwork.

Mayorga-Spinks, with Hopkins-Joppy as the co-main event (and eventual walkout bout) drew pitiful PPV numbers, not even cracking 100,000 - and that's a card that had five "world" title fights. Vargas never carried a PPV on his own, and even ticket sales wise never proved to be a blockbuster without another marquee fighter in the other corner.

All that said, if you're comparing Floyd to DLH and Tyson, then you can make the same argument for ANY fighter today - and in the past 15 years, Holyfield being the lone exception. It took Roy 14 years to establish himself as a respectable PPV draw. Trinidad was/is a bigger draw than Floyd, but not on the level of DLH and Tyson. And Vargas and Mayorga damn sure never were on that level either.

    I can see your point.
Though , had Zab not been on the real hard down slope , I think Cotto/Zab would have pulled in more buyers.
    Vargas/Mosely was a good number.
IMO a Hatton/Mosely fight would do just as good etc.
You can't expect a Joppy or Spinks fight to pull in good numbers.
    Thats just crazy.

Perhaps I'm being a bit harsh on PBF. [IMG]
However PBF is no PPV super star like Sly stated.

Floyd will never be as big as Tyson and Oscar (Leonard as well) were in their heydays...I agree, but he IS the star at the moment and doesn't need Oscar to draw a crowd.

Floyd-Hatton, Floyd-Cotto or Floyd-Mosley would generate far more money than any fight not involving Floyd or Oscar.

I think Floyd has one more fight of stink fight left before his numbers start falling.
He stunk it out with DLH , if he stinks it out with Hatton win or lose , his numbers will fall considerably after that.
