Reggie versus Martinez would be a boxing purist's kind of fight with beautiful technique from both guys.

I'd have that as a pick' em.

As far as Alvarez goes, Johnson would beat him on points.

I had to stop as the large majority of responses were filth-laden and full of profanity due to envy and jealousy from posters.

I did receive many real good responses though, more good than bad as the bad was limited to just several people.

I'll be happy to tell some more, got a million of 'em, providing the threads can be monitored to prevent them from getting out of hand by a few nut jobs here.

Karl I also really enjoy your boxing posts and hope you contribute more in GD. However, it must be said that you bring allot of the vitriol you attract on yourself with your oblivious, vainglorious antics.

KArl, what you should do is just walk into one of their threads, and post a boxing story right in the middle of it.

Contrarian Bullshit. And I'm SURE you've seen a lot of Johnson's fights...as lines of type on BoxRec.

It looks like things are getting cleaned up here so we can all talk some serious boxing while having clean fun at the same time.

Reggie is one heck of a nice fellow who is a minister now and I am reasonably certain I can bring him on board here in some kind of contributing capacity as he is gracious with his time when he has it.

He is busy training and participating in a Legends of Boxing show, but I think he can spare us a few minutes of his time here and there, sure.

As you can imagine he has a million stories to tell.

agREED. I do like some of the info and anecdotes that Karl posts here, but the condescending tone of the "so-and-so has never boxed before" that he tends to fall back on really rubs me the wrong way.

So...no actual Johnson fights viewed by you. Got it.

Who needs to watch fights when you have BoxRec??

mikE watches/watched a lot of boxing. anything from prior to the late 80s/early 90s though, not so much.

His over-reliance on BoxRec stats and half-assed opinions suggest otherwise. But if you wanna stick up for him, knock yourself out.

im stating facts. in what instances do you think he relies on boxrec? fights that took place in the 90s?

No, what you're doing is saying something opposite so you can argue with me. Same old Neil. It's too bad, because when you're not just being a pain in the ass for the fuck of it, you're actually sometimes a decent poster.

what Im doing is stating facts. if you want to examine any of the instances where you think mikE is relying on boxrec rather having seen the actual fights/fighters you will notice a trend. all pre 1990.

the guy is a fight collector and has been consistently taping televised boxing matches since the early 90s. if you want to disagree with his opinion on the ability of reggie johnson as a fighter thats fine, i certainly do, but to claim he has never seen him fight is preposterous.
