That was his moving up fight. Edit: seems like i was mistaken. The salka foght was at 140. But werent the 2 postol "ducking"before and after the peterson fight?
I have no contempt for Porter, REED. But I don't see him and Spence as compelling, because I fail to see how Porter actually wins. I do have contempt for Danny Garcia... so let's see Spence vs Garcia
People Complain about His Style and Refer to Him as an EYESORE.... But How Else is a Certified MIDGET of a Welter, w/AVERAGE Pop at Best Supposed to Fight? Beyond That, REED Thinks Porter Fignts are FAN FRIENDLY More Times Than Not... Berto, Granados, Thurman....All Entertaining Fights... REED Doesn’t Understand the FLACK he Gets.... REED
His blatant dirty tactics in the Berto fight turned a lot of people off imo. But moving on beyond Porter... I wonder what Crawford's path will be AFTER the Horn fight. I'm sure Arum will want Crawford-Pac next, but Roach and Pac don't want it with Crawford. My question is, will Arum ever let Crawford near Spence? I dont see Haymon having an issue wanting to make that fight, but I have my doubts if Arum wants to risk one of his only two stars against a PBC fighter who is probably too much for him.
If Porter can hurt Thurman to the body, imagine what Spence will do to him. Thurman won't want to take too many of those, which is why I can see Thurman doing everything possible to not be there to be hit. He does like to give it and can take some but he knows Spence is a different animal to anyone he's faced so far. IF Thurman decides he wants to go to war then he'll definitely give as good as he can get, but Spence will have too much firepower for him.
Spence d is not too good. Peterson was able to catch him with some perfect rights. But he just couldnt deter him. If (and thats a big if) thurman is able to catch him big and hurt him a few times, he has a slight chance
Spence is a good solid professional. He doesn't look spectacular though. Very good, complete even...but he doesn't look unbeatable.
Spence has improved his defense, but he can be hit. His chin seems to be up to the task, though. Thurman would have absolutely have to be able to hurt him to deter him. If he can't, he will take a horrible beating.
Brook landed a hell of a lot of right hands on the button against Spence but Spence didn't seem hurt or badly troubled at any point in the fight, from what I remember. It's just that Spence has such great determination to get the job done. He's so relentless. Thurman's athleticism could pose Spence problems and as I said before, he has an ability to throw/land all kinds of punches at you from all over the place and they're hard to read. It's like you say to yourself where the hell did that come from. Actually, the more I think about this matchup, the more compelling it becomes.
One thing you have to remember about Thurman is that he's a midget. Spence''s height and range alone is gonna be an issue.
In Spence's defense (no pun intended) his D was a lot more solid in the Brook fight than it was against Peterson. That's probably not a coincidence. Spence knew he couldn't afford to just recklessly eat Brook's right hand. Yes, Brook still nailed him with some good shots, but overall Spence's defense was very solid against Brook. He knew Peterson didn't have the pop to hurt him, therefore he didn't pay as much attention to his D.
Someone Named Carlos Ocampo is Spence’s IBF Mandatory and They’re Demanding That Bout Be Next.... Perfect Time to Grant EJ the Hometown Defense he Covets.... REED
I think so as well. Peterson's power was nothing much to worry about but he was experienced and could be crafty. Better fight plan to get in there and do lots of damage and keep the tempo up. He would have won anyway, but took it in into his hands to make sure Lamont had zero chance.
I was watching clips of Ocampo on Youtube. Heavy handed, but pretty stiff, no defense, and not the fastest guy. Easy fight for Spence.
