Spence could do well against the Big 4 welters of the 90s. He wouldn't fare well against the Big 4 welters of the 80s (Leonard, Duran, Hearns, Benitez).
Spence is competitive with the 90s group of welters but I don’t see him beating them. I don’t think he’s all that competitive with the top 80s guys.
Just imagine his fate against 1920s big four Mickey Walker, Jimmy McLarnin, Ted Kid Lewis and Jack Britton
He'd dominate that group and most of the 30s crop as well ... the 40s is where things start to get a whole lot tougher for him Film doesn't lie ... 20s guys were pioneers, proto-modern ... 30s guys were better, more modern... they both look primitive compared to the best guys in the 40s
The 20s guys look slick as hell compared to the guys 10-15 years before them who were wrestling and throwing one punch at a time
Spence would have the best chance against Ike out of the 4 because he’s the least explosive, but he’d have a helluva time getting past that jab. I see him getting frozen with it then smacked with combos when he shells up or tries to angle away from it.
I don’t think I’d take Spence over Vargas at this point either. Vargas was a better pure boxer with a better defense, the bigger man, and maybe even a little quicker than Spence.
He’s expected to survive I read but that’s not good that he’s playing with his life and career like that.
Gotta love how conservative fightbeat is with their thread starting their favourite boxer almost dies in a car crash and they put that in here... mother fuckers scared of starting new threads
He's extremely lucky to be alive. Speeding, car flipped five times, and he was ejected from the car? Yeah, that's death in most cases. Was he sober is a question I have.
Just Bought the Ferrari After the Mikey Fight... Per TMZ, Spence Hit a Median and the Car Rolled 5 Times...@ 3AM...REED Has Little Doubt Alcohol was Involved... please, Please, PLEASE Get Well Soooooon EJ! REED
Couple years ago I never thought Spence was that dude. Thought he lived clean between fights. This motherfucker lives like Wilfred Benitez between fights.
Hopefully this serves as a life wake-up call. Cause if he doesn't change based on this, there really will be a #ManDown
He Hasn't Changed Much as a PERSON, but the Increased Value in Spence's Name has Changed His LIFESTYLE for Certain... He Went from RARELY Clubbing to FREQUENTLY Clubbing... His 1st Car was a Dodge Charger, Then he Got a Range Rover to Accommodate his Family and Then he Got the 2-Seater Ferrari After the Mikey Fight...Went from Rocking A Chain to Wearing Several Pieces...Now he's Got a $400k "Man Down" Chain... Spence is VERY Disciplined and Professional 1nce He's SIGNED a Fight...This Tells REED He's NOT a Problem Drinker...But Yeah, if the Toxicology Report Reveals What we Expect, This is a Candle Apple RED FLAG That Homey Needs to Chill the Fuck Out a Bit... REED
Spence is a REFLECTIVE, "THINKING MAN" Type of Dude By Nature...But His Decision Making has Obviously Waned a Bit, Lately... If Spence is Blessed w/a FULL, SPEEDY Recovery, REED Thinks He'll Change for the Better... REED
