I remember all those reports about the SOLO actor. Anyway the film is barely watchable and not memorable at all.

    Rogue One shits on SOLO.

That’s what was reported, regarding the acting coach Ehrenreich and the two previous directors said that was not the case and that it was more of an advisor bought on for everyone not just for him. So conflicting stories about what actually happened.

I do know this, I saw Solo and thought it was one of the better Star Wars films of the past several years mostly because it felt a bit detracted from the actual Star Wars universe. I felt Ehrenreich gave a fine performance and about the only criticism I could make is he never displayed any Han Solo nostalgia. Not one mannerism, voice similarity or even crooked smile. If that’s the worst you can say about the guy he must not have been half bad.

I didnt had much of a problem with the acting of the lead, but he simply wasn't believable as Han Solo. To me it was like watching someone else's adventures. My main beef was that if was an unnecessary film that tried to check mark everything we knew about Han: how he got the 'Solo' last name (stupid); how he made the Kessel Run; how he met Chewbacca; how he met pansexual Lando; the dices; how he won the Millennium Falcon in a poker game; 'best star pilot...bla bla bla' The film's villain wasn't compelling and like the film, totally forgettable. Plus Daenerys was wasted here.

Thats a good review and I agree with it all. Despite all of that I enjoyed the film. Don’t get me wrong, the replay value is shit like every other SW movie (excluding the original trilogy) but at least this one kept me interested without wishing for the credits to hurry up and start.

Of all the new Disney films, 'Rogue One' is my favorite. It complements nicely as A New Hope prequel, so when you read the first film crawl intro, you now know exactly which events it is referring to...plus the Vader going on a killing spree was the most awesome that character has ever been!

Disney wanted to capitalize on the toy merchandise, but fans just plain hate these new characters and are not buying their toys.

Spaceballs had a few good jokes here and there, but for the most part is a failed comedy. Mel Brooks was already washed-out at that point.

The problem for Panchyprssss, is that regardless of SpaceBalls getting average reviews, it parodies Panchy´s favorite genre: shit Sci-Fi

On the contrary: I was very hyped to watch parodies of my favorite scifi films delivered by the Maestro Mel Brooks. Then I was tortured by the unfunny female robot voiced by Joan Rivers with not one single good joke; the lame ass uninteresting protagonists, the Schartz passing as the Force, John Candy trying very hard to be funny with little success. Only the villain, Darth Helmet had some actual funny one-liners. There was one semi-good last scene that parodied ALIEN, but at that point it was too late. 3/10

I gave it a 5/10 but strangely, this particular movie came out almost 10 years after the movies it parodied...

The movie is hilarious... too sophisticated for fucktards like Panchy that think mini-me was genius comedy and too American and Jewish for a limey like Mustard to understand

At that point the scifi craze was dwindling down, but it was okay to parody a timeless classic like Star Wars. The film bombed at the box office and did not recovered its budget.

But then, Mel Brooks was kind of 'over'.

His best work: The Producers, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Silent Movie, High Anxiety.

    Madeline Kahn was great!

For a film to recoup its investment it has to make twice its budget and what was invested in marketing. The film cost $22 million and probably had no less than $7-$8 million in marketing. So it had to make at least $60 million to be profitable (or if you want to ignore the marketing money, then it needed to gross at least $44 million). The total earnings was $38 million. It lost money.

    Period.

More people watched it on VHS than they did at the movie theaters. It bombed. I am correct and you are wrong.

Have a Happy Blessed Wonderful day full of joy, joy moments!

What the fuck? You realize video rentals make money for a movie, don't you?

It didn't bomb. You're a fucktard. Everybody hates you and you should fucking die.

    Nah.
You're trying to assume that's how movies were expected to surpass their budget/marketing then using today's standard.

Spaceballs marketing probably cost US$2-3million max.
There's no way MGM spent equivalent of 40% of the movie's budget on additional marketing.
