    I agree with you.

Back in the day, before watching that movie, I was very hyped since the previous two films were so awesome and in particular The Empire Strikes Back had such an epic scope that I just had such high expectations. Then I saw the cover of Time magazine with Lucas face surrounded by this stupid looking cuddly stuffed bears called ewoks...my jaw dropped and my immediate reaction was "Oh no!!" Well the movie wasn't so bad and it has its brilliant moments, but it was very inferior to the previous two films. And I hated those damn cute Ewoks every single time they showed up. Yes, this was the beginning of the saga turning childish.

    Indeed.

It was better than Return of The Jedi. And it didn't had Ewoks and they kept Jar Jar Binks in a blink-or-you'll-miss-him small cameo appearance. The tone was more somber and the battles were satisfying at least to me. The duel between Anakin/Darth and Obi Wan Kenobi was the best light saber duel of the franchise. Sure Hayden Christessen cannot act like a real human being and continued being the worst actor there, but that was a small detraction in an otherwise excellent film.

This is how I rank the films:

    1. The Empire Strikes Back
    2. Star Wars (or Episode IV a New Hope...I always hated Lucas changed the title)
    3. Revenge of The Sith
    4. Return of The Jedi
    5. Attack of The Clones
    6. The Phantom Menace
