You really think it will be that much of a blowout? DLH was younger then, and Forbes has always had more skill than Gatti...plus this weight is actually more familiar to him than welter was for Gatti. BTW, if people think DLH can win after this fight, it might have more to do with DLH actually exceeding expectations the first fight and the fact that he'll actually be the more active fighter this time around.
NO..i don't think it will be a blowout....I hope it's not.. but if it did happen like the DLH vs. Gatti fight...that would suck ass.....i want DLH to struggle..i want him to lose...
I know the Acid and Meth are good here in Orange County, but not even the most potent of potables could make u think DLH will lose.
If Oscar goes out winging bombs expecting a quick spectacular knockout like he did against Sturm, he runs the risk of getting gassed and looking bad in spots. Losing though? Don't see it.
Well if this will avoid Delahoya/Mayweather 2 then I'm all for it. Oh no wait then that will mean PBF will find another excuse to avoid Cotto and fight Forbes:doh:
If I could pick a script that I wouldn't mind this fight following, I guess it'd be DLH-Carr (minus the bad officiating). DLH struggles for much of the contest, but finishes it off with a late KO. As bad as this intended mismatch is, a Forbes win does nothing for the sport. It's not so much that I care about Mayweather-DLH II, though it's not a horrible fight, but if DLH is serious about Cotto as well then there's at least one of his upcoming fights I can look forward to. With Mayweather, even if DLH loses, he might just wait for Hatton II, anyways.
I would cry tears of JOY if Forbes wins, let alone STOPS De La Hoya. I so want this to backfire on De La Hoya. Forbes deserves a good win like this. In all likelyhood it won't happen. The likely outcome is Oscar via UD. Thing with Forbes is that he's crafty and tough. He can scrap. Anybody thinking that a year off ring rusty Oscar is just taking him out is in for a shock. This isn't Mayorga. Oscar will win because his punches will be harder and that will be what the judge see. But Forbes will make him work and look pretty ordinary. Everyone will then say "He can't fight Mayweather like this", "No contest".
wasn't that bama's job? i thought he learned his lesson with Gomez not to start stupid threads like that...
dsimon writes: An Open Letter To Stevie: Dear Stevie here is what you do. You will hear a lot of hype about De La Gaya, and it will be expected that he can beat you. That might well be true for around six rounds, so the jist of your problem is what to do those first 6 rounds of the fight. I want you to put a mental image in your mind Stevie. Picture De La Gaya in women's clothing... there are actually pictures of this on the net. No no no! Do not look at the fine ass stripper in the background! :nono: Look at De La Hoya and ask if you will let this maricone beat you. Picture how easily you can beat this little girl! When in the ring, look at De La Gaya and keep this image fresh in your mind. Beat that bitch like you mean it Stevie! and everytime he gets ready to hit back ask yourself if you will get beat by this biotch!!!!
Yup. Just put a $100 bet on Forbes by Decision at 26-1 on Sportsbook. Throw away bets are great, they make the fight more exciting too. ::
Yep, it definitely makes the fight a lot more exciting. Like I said its a throw away bet so I don't give a shit if I lose and if Forbes does happen to beat that ass I get paid 10 fold. That being said, don't sleep on Forbes the dude is a legit talent. He's just severely undersized against an aging, part time fighter in De la Hoya. If Stevie's chin holds up past 6 rounds I can see him taking this late with effective/clean punching on the inside and consistent body work.

Forbes has less of a chance to win on the cards than Sturm did. The fight's promoted by the fighter, who already has Mayweather lined up in September. Forbes needs a proverbial knockout to win a decision.
De La Hoya says he's struggling to make 150 and starving. I know he's usually full of it but I believe him in this instance. Maybe he'll be too drained and Forbes can pull it off!
Definitely! Any time there's a big money fight on the horizon there's always a chance of a robbery. When the fight on the horizon is a rematch to a fight that has recently broken a PPV record, the chance that a "tune up" can get the upset is even worse! Couple that with De La Hoya's tendency to "steal" rounds with late flurries and the obvious discrepancy in size and punching power, (which will definitely have an effect on the judges' scorecard) the chance that stevie pulls out with a UD get even more miniscule... But you know what? I DONT CARE! It's a throw away bet, and that's what throw away bets are for! Maybe I'm a little :notallthere:, but throughout the fight I'm gonna be :cheer: for TWO POUND, and the fact I got a bit of cash riding on it will make it even more opcorn:. Stevie is gonna WORK De la Hoya late and will have him crying after eating a constant barrage of body shots, uppercuts, and right hands on the inside. He's gonna make De la Hoya look like a FOOL, making him eat jabs and overhands while DLH tries to Mayweather them off his shoulder. Don't get me wrong De la Hoya will look good early on his toes, BUT he will gas late and will have to resort to eating punches for 2:50 a round so he can save up enough energy so he can flurry after he hears the taps on the apron! STEVIE : BELIEVE! :warning:
:: at the sensitive Oscarsexuals. What did I say that was untrue? Do you believe that Oscar is having an easy time making 150, when he has been at jr. middle and above since 2001, and was as ripped as ever making 154 lbs last May?
this thread will seem funnier when Forbes gets stopped. :: I like Stevie and I'm tired of Oscar but the reality is that Stevie is too small. His skill is not enough to get the job done. Either way he won't get the W and the Floyd/Oscar rematch will still happen. :dunno:
