    Lord.

    Lipstick on a pig?

The fact is Taylor has hung in with the best....flaws and all, that can't be taken away from him.

He's not a bum by any means....he's got some serious flaws he's been able to overcome with physical advantages, athleticism and willpower.

Frankly, I thought he fought as well as he could vs. Pavlik. That's a point people aren't seeing -- up until he was stopped, that was one of the BEST fights I have seen from Taylor ever.

My point was that I have heard Steward giving him the right advice, time after time. And I also know that the "Steward style" would/should benefit Taylor.

It's not the first time there are reports of Taylor not listening....and even with Birmingham sometimes he would fail to execute instructions Dan gave him.

We'll find out soon enough. As some are saying, fighters and trainers do need to have chemistry.

    Peace.

What makes Taylor able to hang with a guy who has a lot of skills is that Taylor is very strong physically. Even when he punches his shots are strong.... the best analogy I can think of is guys who throw a baseball and it stings your hand when it hits the glove.... The ball is heavy.

Hopkins didn't have the strength to get him out of there in 12. If that fight had been a fifteen rounder Taylor would have been Kayoed.

JT has skills. He was a bronze medalist and he beat Hopkins who defended the title 21 times. Steward just couldn't do anything with him. The reason why he couldn't is because he is overated as a trainer.

His fighters reguarly have bad gameplans, which makes sense when you hear Manny announce fights wrong. Too bad after his fighter gets KTFO he can't claim it went exactly how he expected

His fighters reguarly come unprepared to fight. Hamed was in terrible shape against MAB. Lewis against Rahman. Harris against Maussa.

actually, he pulled that shit w/ Viv after the Maussa fight. Observing his cuts and bruises a few hours later while all of us (Viv's fam and other friends/members of his camp) were eating (a very late) dinner, then saying "Yep, this is why I didn't want you training in Brooklyn, we needed to get you away to a real camp."

Meanwhile, it was MANNY'S idea to keep Viv home, because the fight purse ($100,000) didn't justify Manny spending money on a full training camp.

That does not suprise me Jake. Manny just seems to be arrogant.

I don't know if arrogant is the right word, though I know what you're saying. But Manny's actually quite cordial, at least from my own experiences. I don't know too many people he disrespects in that regard.

As far as his arrogance - I'd almost rather call it insecurity. We're both talking about the same thing in the end, probably just describing it differently.

Being a stickler in this regard is ok in my book. His foible might well be trying to mix his role as a shill, a roll nobody seems to think he needs to play, with his opinions, analysis as a trainer.

Exactly. He should leverage the fact that he is the only one with actual experience in the sport (and decades of it, in fact) to be the objective authority instead of trying to play the HBO yes-man as well......he could also better admit when his thinking was wrong; it happens to every single boxing figure be it trainer or fighter or analyst.

    Peace.
