Yeah but I've never read one of these things saying a movie had a budget of $50 million and it bombed because it made $80-90 million.

This is not on the same level. They have basically stuck their necks out on competing with marvel. If they aren't Making marvel money, they are not happy. This is not just a standalone movie. It's a universe the are attempting to do. They need to make money in order to make movies that the have already invested in making. This movie is a gamble.

Let me explain it in a very simple way:

His Royness is the CEO of Insane Pictures that just made the film "Ignorance" on a $50 million budget. His Royness KNOWS that the film will not sell by itself so he orders an additional $30 million for marketing to buy time on tv, online & radio to promote the film as well as magazines ads, billboards, print & distribute thousands of posters, film prints, etc. Also to pay the actors airplane flights & hotels for tv appearances, etc. But before the film gets to lets say 3,000 screens, His Royness needs to struck a deal with movie theater chain owners like Terp's Insolent Cinemas and Dark Magus Retarded Cinemas among others. After some back & forth they agree on a 50/50 split. That means that for every $10 ticket sold Insane Pictures will retain $5 while theater owners Terp & Dark Magus will retain $5. SO...in order for His Royness Insane Pictures break even, his film "Ignorance" (which had a total cost of $80 million) needs to gross at least more than $160 million because of those deals.

The Man From U.N.C.L.E. had a $75 million budget. It grossed worldwide $109 million. It was considered a flop by the studio as it failed to recoup its investment and the planned sequels were cancelled. Had the film have grossed more than $150 million, then it would have shown a profit.

There is a difference between breaking even and them being happy, but I get what you're saying. Also I wasn't aware of who gets what in ticket shares...

Add to that the reported $175 million (no amount was disclosed for the additional reshoots on top of that), that's $295 million, if that was the final number it would need to make $600 million to show profit, but studio insiders were the ones saying that to break even needs to make over $800 million. So do the math, bro!

Initially yes. When but when the shit starts hitting the fan and the thought of losing money comes into place, breaking even will one very happy. On your way to vegas, you are not thinking " oh man i hope i break even. Let's go" But after your 3rd day and you are down 14 large, some people would suck a dick in order to break even.

What are you even debating with breaking news magnus for? He just wants to argue. If the head of warner Brothers himself came out and said they needed 750-800 mil to break even, he would call bullshit. This guy calls bullshit on every single thing. Always questioning everything since he ha been posting here.

If you think it's a 175 budget movie, you are the gullible one. And what am I exactly a fanboy about? I liked MOS & BVS. Panchy hated them. I wanted to Suicide Squad to be good. I didnt like it.

I've read on several sites that including reshoots it's more to 250 and then you have 125-150 on advertising. If the split with the theaters is truly on average 50:50 the numbers Anthony and Panchy reported make sense. It's crazy to bank this much on a movie that has Joel fucking Kinnamon in it...

50% split for domestics. 40% with Foreign distribution. And even tho it's not playing in china because they are scared of ghost, china only has a 25% return for the movie.

If Warner Bros feel the need to spend that much on a shitty franchise like DC.....then they deserve to be out of fucking business

WB wants to compete with Marvel. They bought they have had the DC rights for a long time and never knew what to do with it. They see what Marvel did and want in on the action. But WB is notorious for making horrible decisions. Like i tell everyone, watch the movie The Death of Superman Lives. It explains in detail how WB can fuck something up so bad.

Have you read the Open Letter to Warner Bros that an ex-employee wrote and is all over the net? If all that is true, no wonder all those films are such disappointments.

C'mon fellas, help this movie out. You can pre-buy it now on ON DEMAND for $19.95. Buy to own! Just think, you can watch it anytime you want.............any......time...........you.........want.................as long as you don't change your cable provider.

Raise those worldwide figures. Clamor for a sequel. Pray for Jai Courtney to get the respect he deserves.

I figured theaters kept more in the 25%-33% range. Even still, you're speculating on the reshoot budget and I doubt they spent 400 mil on ads.

Pretty much says what everyone else is saying.

    BTW, I loved this:
Batman (1966) ´´Has a timelessness that none of the other films do, and it's just a delight from beginning to end thanks to Adam West´s winking Batman and the coalition of villains who can't stop cackling maniacally. Watching it again recently, I found it functions almost perfectly as a parody of the super-serious Christopher Nolan Batfilms, which is incredible´´

    100% fucking true. :bears:

I like how the author keeps saying the film should've been great because it had Will Smith and Margot Robbie in it. Will Smith drops bombs on ya moms and no one has heard of this bitch.
