Suicide Squad - Trailer/Discussion

Just as you dismissed Gracie's Beyond The Trailer review by having no interest in checking it out, same happens to me with this film. I am not spending one dime on this. When a decent stream materializes I might or might not check it out.

 

A shitty movie is still a shitty movie even in a big screen (ROBOCOP remake comes to mind).

 

Finally. More and more people are seeing the light. People give movies a great review, just because they were produced by Marvel. Fuck those critics!

 

But those movies usually turn out to be pretty good. :scratcher:
I can´t think of a single Marvel movie where its been universally trashed and failed at the box-office...

Can´t say the same at all for DC movies except a couple of the Nolan-made ones...

SUICIDE SQUAD is breaking records and is headed to a $147 million opening. So stop whinning as the bad reviews did not stopped audiences to watch this film.

 

Lol at you guys having problems with rotten tomatoes reviews. How many times do I have to tell you's that IMDB is the way to go.

Probably not as pointless if it is a major success box-office-wise as its looking to be?

 

I thought IMDB was fans\general public reviews.....hence more subjective?

 

They actually have both, critics and fan reviews but I think the film's score is only based on fan reviews. Personally I'd rather base my choices off of the average joe's review as I have much more in common with them than I do with movie critics who probably have agenda's or are paid off. Plus I think the set up looks better and their message boards are good too.

 

The problem I see now with IMDB:

• Blind - Many users - particularly the young - give movies high ratings before they have even seen a film, i.e. fandom or loyalty.
• Inflation - User-ratings on IMDB are always much higher than user and critical ratings on most other sites.
• Hype - It's rare that movie ratings on IMDB rise over time. Instead, the ratings usually plummet. Why? Because the people who initially rush out to see the movie in theaters are usually the hardcore fans who buy into the hype and then give it high ratings, regardless of quality. In the later weeks and months when everyone else in the moviegoing public watches it (after the hype has settled), the ratings normalize. But this means that in a film's initial months, the early ratings are utterly useless because they're terribly inflated.
• Fanboys - Sci-fi, fantasy and comic fanboys and fangirls have made IMDB completely unreliable for any movie in those genres. Everything automatically gets a boosted score. Everything.

 

I don't get the hate. What did you expect going in?

 

I dont think its hate. I just think DC struggle when it comes to translating their characters into movie or TV.

 

The TV shows are solid, so I don't get that part of the post. The Nolan Batman trilogy was good. Man of Steel is very underrated. I didn't like BvS too much but it's better on second viewing and is an average movie. Suicide Squad was entertaining and solid. I give it 7/10.

 

I tried with Gotham. Coudnt get into that even if S02 looked great.
The Flash, in all seriousness, I cant get over the intense campness of the main character, but I will give it another go.
Arrow - havent seen.

 

I don't get that. I pretty much always find their ratings spot on because there are too many straight shooter reviews that even out all of the stuff you listed. Try to go on there and find a movie score that you think is ridiculously off.

IMBD is totally unreliable. Average viewers don't know shit about movies, particularly short attention span younger viewers that refuse to watch any movie released before they hit puberty and much less, God forbid, a black & white classic. So here we have kids praising stupid films that blatantly rip-off other films and praising awful actors 'Vin Diesel deserves an Oscar for Fast Five! Is a crime he hasn't won an Oscar yet!' I prefer a score by someone that has some serious knowledge of film than a teeny that gave a 10/10 to the One Direction film 'This is Us' and called it 'the Best Movie Ever Made'.

I had rather low expectations for Suicide Squad. It was alright, far from "good", but watchable and reasonably entertaining.

Looking at Margot Robbie always helps.

Nah. ´New´ comics and/or characters dont interest me whatsoever.

Gotham is good. Daredevil also. I'll look into Preacher. Hey I liked the Constantine tv show so maybe I just have bad taste.

 

Anyway, back to Suicide Squad.
I lasted 10 minutes and realized this entire movie was going to have well-known songs from the 1960s-onwards playing in the background.
As bad as this movie is, that is such a fucking cliche.

Shit.
