Clottey is a very strong welterweight, having been at the weight for years. Margarito fought Daniel Santos at 147 and 154...and at 154, he was significantly outweighed on fight night. And he fought Williams, who can make 154 and 160 easily, apparently. Margarito's fought some big fighters. But he's not fighting Tavoris Cloud anytime soon.
I agree, ..although physically it suits his large body to come in at that odd weight, it still isn't fare on most welterweights due to this fucked up system that DOES NOT ensure same sized fighters are fighting each other in an appropriately categorised division. Guys like Paul Williams, Cintron, Suarez, Margarito etc, could come in at an optimum weight that suits them,.. but if they were geometrically measured with the total calculated, they would have to fight fighters that 'appear' to be the same size as they are, but whom dont have an extraordinary ability of cutting weight. I think that would be fare.
I like his aggression, but feel he can be out box. He his not been tested. When I had the NABO belt I wanted to fight him and 8count said no. Having said that you all should read about his story. He is a true American underdog and I'm pulling for him! I just hope they don't run from him too long (Chad,Tarver) He's the #1 contender for IBF.
I will be at that fight, though more so for Fernando Guerrero. But yeah, Cloud-Henry would be an absolute war, and IMO a better fight BEFORE either fights Chad Dawson. The winner goes into a Dawson fight as more than just a mandatory contender.
Man that would be a great fight! I'd give the edge to Chris having been in much tougher. Cloud would make it a war! Cloud throws shorter and more acute shots than Chris. I see Chris being in there for the whole 12, and the verdict would still be out on Cloud. It's a pipe dream even so! Cloud is the number 1 contender and 8count ain't moving until they get that world title shot!:mj:wu!
