I was one of the first to say that Pavlik got caught by that big right hand that actually knocked him DOWN because he was juuuust getting ready to drop his hands and stick out his chin/tongue (similar to how he briefly did in the 1st round)...

However, I think that's being taken way out of proportion on the thread.

The fact is Pavlik WAS hurt BEFORE that last shot that knocked him down. We can debate the degree to which he was hurt before the KD, but the fact is Taylor caught him with that first right hand and a follow-up left hook (I believe) and Pavlik looked visibly shaken and became open for more follow-up volleys.

After getting up, he was still shaken and stunned again by a few subsequent Taylor shots....though it should be noted that the one that made him "stumble across the ring" was actually an ILLEGAL right hand to the back of the head.

So - Taylor CAN hurt Pavlik if he catches him right; and seems to have the speed and timing to do so.

I think the point is that Pavlik won't be as frivolous about ignoring the follow-up incoming if he IS hurt....and that he will be more cautious and fight "in the pocket" early until he can get his timing and accuracy down.

I would obviously pick Pavlik in the rematch, but do expect that Taylor makes it competitive....I think he will start very cautious and Pavlik will actually pull away early -- but then he will apply so much pressure that Taylor will HAVE to start firing back and exchanging which will lead to great moments until the stoppage.

    Peace.
