Mayweather said on ESPN that he would love to fight Cotto and that he would fight him as soon as he leaves Arum.

Cotto has never come out and said he wants to fight Mayweather. Whenever HBO ask him who he wants to fight he says ill leave it to my company.

Well thats Mayweather saying he doesn't want to fight Cotto....."leave your promoter then we will fight"

Well Cotto has said in different interviews that he will not be chasing Mayweather around, and will just keep fighting the best Welterweights in the WORLD until Mayweather is FORCE to fight him....

Cotto should want to fight Mayweather. The best p4p fighter the most money. Cotto should be desperate to fight Mayweather.

He's already accomplished more at 147 than Mayweather has.

Mayweather's only got one foot in boxing at the moment, he boxes sparsley and has openly talked about retirement for over a year.

Frankly, I think the worst thing he could do is let Mayweather dictate anything to him.

If Cotto goes about his business and wins, the pressure will shift firmly from Cotto needing to fight Mayweather to Mayweather needing to fight Cotto.

His management has put him in agaisnt better welterweights than Mayweather, who calls his own shots...which, so far, has been more about not fighting top welterweights.

Seriously, I'll take Top Rank's match-making if it brings Mosley and Margarito than Mayweather/Ellerbe bringing in DLH and Hatton...let alone the redux.

Fraud's got some good skills offensively when he's brave enough to display it,.. but his legacy should drop down a notch for having to resort to illegal tactics his entire career to defend himself. As for wether he fights Cotto or not, well that would be nice, but I really dont give a shit if I never see Fraud in the ring again, boxing easily moves on without him [IMG].

All fighters should want to fight the best and the bigges name. Cotto should want to fight Floyd thats all there is to it.

Mayweather is the king of the throne. If Cotto wants that spot then he should want to fight Mayweather. Mayweather shouldn't have to chase anybody.

How does this land on Cotto shoulders? Shouldn't Floyd want to face the best too? Or is only up to Cotto to actually prove how good he is? Why shouldn't Floyd want the Cotto fight when he's clearly the best there is at 147?

Cotto's fighting more often against a better class of fighters.

Cotto has said he wants the fight, but Mayweather's just playing keep away with his status at the moment.

    Mayweather.

But they wouldn't be fighting at any overall weight, they'd be fighting at welterweight.

And at that weight, Cotto's done more. By a significant margin, IMO.

I don't think there's any debate about that.

Career-wise, Mayweather's overall move up in weight and his wins over Corrales at super feather and Castillo at lightweight set him apart from Cotto right now.

But if you compare their careers since the Castillo fight in '02, just Cotto's second year, I think Cotto's done significantly more.

Just in terms of wins and who have they beaten, I think they're actually not that far apart considering the differences in when they turned pro.

Arum and the people at Top Rank are really craftsmen the way they bring fighters along.

What does that matter? Are you trying to justify Floyd not fighting Cotto by saying he's done more in his career? I'm not sure what this has to do with the debate at hand.

    REED isn't Justifying Anything...

But when People Act like it's ENTIRELY On Floyd to Make Floyd-Cotto Happen, it Makes it Seem like Cotto is More PROVEN, which he ISN'T...

It's On BOTH of them to Make the Fight Happen, N REED's Opinion...& if Floyd is Motivated by Something as Seemingly TRIVIAL as SHITTALK, then Cotto NEEDS to Do JUST that...

Until Hatton Talked Shit, Floyd-Hatton Didn't EVER Appear Likely, Did It???...Cotto Needs to Follow Suit OR @ Least Show Up to a Floyd Fight or Post Fight Presser & "Respectfully" Challenge him to a Fight...

Cotto NEEDS to Put Floyd "On the Spot"...

yup maricon puta bitch Margarito did that...talk shit about Mayweather...what did that got him?? NOTHING...Mayweather kept on walking....this bs notion that if you shittalk Mayweather he WILL FIGHT you.....:rolleyes:he saw alot of million..saw how limited Hatto was at 147..and took a fight...against Cotto he won't be fighting someone that clinches 20 times a round, doesn't use the jab...leaps in with punches...:nono:

Cotto is slowly doing what Mayweather should've done a while back...CLEAN OUT THE DIVISION...Mosley...Margarito is NEXT....shit if Williams wins the rematch against QUINTANA..he might be next in COTTO's list....

Nice post Mr Spines allign, a little bit sloppy here and there but effective, although I must insist you re-edit that outrageous little clip about Cotto beating Margarito, because that my dear conquistador, is just impossible.

    I agREE brother REED

Cotto just needs to say at his post fight or whatever.. publically say "I want to fight Mayweather"

or better yet say "Mayweather is scared of me cuz I'll knock him out"

somthing to get Floyd to want to whup him!

    that's all it takes!

when asked on camera Cotto always avoids it really and says somthing about his team or whaterv..

if he wants a fight he can generate intrest by just calling Floyd out

Margarita DIDN'T Bring PRESTIGE or a GOOD RESUME to the Table...

@ the Time, he was Basically a BUM Looking for a Big Payday...

There's a LARGE Public Demand for Floyd-Cotto...Other than YOU, Arum & Margarita WHO Demanded a Floyd-Margarita Bout???...

He was clearly the best available opponent at that point in time, certainly better than one "scrubs-bitch", then "scrub" himself, I think it's definitely a GIVEN to say that people would have MUCH preferred he took on Margarito. Reed,....please, carefully consider your next post and dont be cruel, you are insulting me and anyone else reading if you think the hardcore fans wanted Fraud/Judah and Fraud/Baldomir instead,... even you have finally rejected Baldomir,.. (after spending a hard-fought 2 years defending him no less) :nono: .

Don't act like the public didn't want to see Floyd fight Margarito. To this day I would still like to see it. Hell, I want to see Floyd fight ANYONE that is in the top 5 in his division.

What made Hatton worthy and not Cotto? Did Hatton ever fight on PPV before the Mayweather fight?

The FACT is, Judah was a More LUCRATIVE MAINSTREAM Option than Margarita would've EVER Been...

& Brian Kinney, the So-Called "Voice" of Hardcore Fans Pined INCESSANTLY for Floyd to Face the "True, Linear" Champion...

Floyd Fought BOTH of them, Leaving Margarita STUCK btwn a Rock, a Hard Place & LOSSES to Daniel Santos & Paul Williams...
