About 4 months ago I was at the academy and Ralph was going around rolling with people in the no-gi class. Everytime he'd get near me and my rolling partner, I'd pretend I needed to use the bathroom. I wasn't pussing out or anything, but because Ralph is kind of aggressive and stocky, I usually get owned a lot quicker than most of the other blue-purple belts. I'm more of a patient tactician but I get a little flusttered by people who are super aggressive on the mat (i.e - wrestlers).

Anyway I come back too soon and Ralph is just getting done with my partner, and he sees me and he's like "You ready?" So I'm like, oh shit, I'll take my armbar like a man.

We start rolling around from the knees and he gets me on the mat, and goes immediately to side control. Then he goes knee to belly. Suprisingly, he tries to step over with the "far" leg to step over for the armbar and I hip out escape and grab the leg and go for a toe hold. Then he jumps out of it to standing position and says "good good" then goes on to the next pair. It was probably only the second time I didn't get submitted by him when we rolled.

Don't you guys have a fitness center at work? Ours is always packed at lunch which is surprising for a software company. I expected a lot more fat asses when I started working here, but most people here are pretty healthy.

I'd love to take some lessons from Fedor. He seems to cover everything. It's like there's nothing he's not prepared for in a fight.

That's cool. Ours is in another building about 200 yards away. I just wish it was open past 7pm. What kind of workouts do you do during work besides weights?

Yeah, I bet Fedor would have a super popular Sambo Academy if he started one in a major city, but I think he's probably going to retire or teach in Russia. I think rolling with Fedor would be frustrating, from all accounts I've heard, he's just too strong for most people from the top. I'd still roll with him though. You'd be surprised if you knew the people I rolled with on the mat.

It's cool that you actually train. I do not, I wish I had started when I was younger though. I'd like to train boxing, but now I'm too old.

What's crazy about Fedor is how calm he is at all times. Even when he's been in some bad positions he just stays calm and does his thing.

Those people he rolls with are lucky he's only playing with them otherwise he'd given them the Noguira treatment......sledgehammer 2 handed bombs from the mount raining down on their faces till they're a bloody mess.

I don't think anyone is too old, it just depends on your general health. We have this 60 year old biker guy who trains with us and he seems to hold his own.

The best example of this is when I was in Judo. I studied it at Berkeley after class at the Recreational Facility. It was lead by Cho In Chul, an Olympic Medalist in Judo from Korea. Anyway, this 8th Degree black belt from Korea comes in one day to lead the class, he was one of Cho's teachers back in Korea. I swear this guy was about 75-80 years old. So when Randori time comes along, no one expects him to throw down with us "young, strong, college kids", but he takes off his watch and steps into the lineup. During Randori, and Newaza, he was literally choking 200 pound, cut up, brown belts until they tapped, they had red faces and everything.

I never underestimate older guys, they have some sneaky chokes and techniques. :nono:

Nah, I used to train when I was in grade school, but I went back to the gym when I turned 25. The trainers were amazed but I think my back had more to do with me not contiinuing not age. I can throw out my back for weeks by making sudden movements so I stopped sparring and just worked mitts and hit the 200 pound bag for a couple hours. Working out is the fountain of youth. If you stay fit, you can defy age . I would advise HGH as well. I look way younger than I am. It is just good genetics though in my case. I am sure you can do ok with the inferior shit you have too.

    WTF?

You're only 3 years older than I am. You could get into training, but it would be tough the first 4 weeks, after that though, if you're dedicated you could really get some good health benefits.

Now I tire out my girlfriend during sex, not the other way around.:nono:

No. It was a joke, but it seems I violated my oath. I henceforth ban myself for one week for my crime. See you next friday.

Bamma do you like Filipino food? I used to cook in a Filipino restaurant. I like to make Adobo sauces for chicken and pork. I could fatten you, Mex and AShes up a bit so you guys could challenge at the higher weight classes! There used to be a place in the Tenderlion that had great Lumpia Shanghai.
