those guys should have looked at Jones past prime as an example of how that style works for fighters not as quick as Jones. Hell even past his prime I would say he was still quicker to react than most of the fighters who mimick him today.

 

How can you say it won't work with Dirrell? He didn't get touched against Stevens for 30 minutes. Dirrell's reflexes are probably not at Jones' level--whose are?--but he is way, way near the top of the pack.

 

@ SOME Point,Dirrell's Gonna have to Use his Athleticism N the Name of OFFENSE....

& Against a BETTER Caliber of Fighter than Stevens...

No doubt. If anything, this fight further exposed Stevens' limitations than it confirmed, or even suggested, Dirrell's brilliance in the art of hit and don't get hit. He'll excel at this level... but will eventually run into someone that can somehow prevent him from using every inch of the ring. And even more so, he'll start facing guys at middle and super middle who are not what seemed like a foot smaller and at a 2' reach disadvantage.

 

because he fought a dude who is at the most 5'7" and unskilled in how to cut off the ring effectively, how to attack the body of a guy who moves, and didn't little other than swing for the fences. That pulling your head back straight isn't going to work on a legit 6' puncher no matter how Matrix-y you make yourself

Yes! I certainly caught that, and was hoping that a lot would be made of him saying that.

I had the chance to cover him here in California on a BDSSP card a while back. He was all style and no substance in or out of the ring. I was of course impressed with the athleticism, but after the fight all he could talk about was taking Jeff Lacy's titles and being the best guy in the division.

I don't really have a "I hope this guy gets KTFO" list, but if I did he would be right at the top!

 

I saw one of his early fights but didn't see the one last night. I was impressed with his talent/potential and athleticisim. I'm surprised to hear he was boring.
