To repeat what I said three pages back, ya bam - he was getting loads of credit BEFORE he won the FA Cup; he was the greatest thing since sliced bread for stringing half a dozen miracle wins together when his team looked fucked and they survived relegation by the skin of their teeth. The next season he got yet more credit (and a job at Everton) for winning the FA Cup...and getting relegated.
