There are some very very odd things you can observe down here.

I love the way all the shitty cornershops and pubs give themselves such grandiose titles.......

...........that "Benfica Restaurant", for example, is just up the road from an Algerian shop called "Atlas Stores" or something.....a handle lifted, obviously, from the Atlas Mountains.

But it couldn't be less fucking Mountainous.........it is positively prairie. An ordinary, flat, little shop.

Then you have the African shops "World International Stores"..........like it was part of a dominant franchise or something. ::

And of course, just in case you are crossing Waterloo Bridge and need to know what the World Population is at that very given moment...........

 

Some FIFA reps were arrested in Switzerland and being extradited to the U.S.

Too early to tell if this will result in anything useful but at least it sounds like good news.

 

Heard about that today on NPR

 

My guess is the higher up like Blatter are too well insulated to get caught with anything even if these guys spill everything. Probably too hard to prove. Hope i'm wrong though.

I hope the Americans find hard evidence against Blatter. He'll be in Canada within a few week or so for the Women's World Cup and we can extradite his corrupt ass right across the border.

 

What is KILLING the investigation of FIFA is the fact that people like the British Media are only interested because they got shafted.

 

It's zero percent likely the Americans care for reasons other than them not getting the WC either. While their motivation may suck at least something is getting done. Whether or not it will any major impact remains to be seen. The cynic in me says no.

I can see Blatter thanking the U.S. investigators afterward for helping rid them of "a few bad apples."

Everytime there is a crisis in FIFA Blatter walks out of it with fewer enemies.

 

I don't even know that he has a lot of enemies within FIFA. I'm sure there are plenty of people who hate him but he rarely gets criticized publically by fellow officials. They're either to scared or are just as scummy as him.

Ah think whit's being lost in this FIFA fiasco is the fact that Rangers are playing Motherwell taenight in the first leg o' the Premiership Play-off decider.

My take is that FIFA basically pre-emptively broke American sanctions against Russia. I didn't know that Kissinger was a member of the US Bid Team either :crafty:
