This is true. Before then the former Yugoslavia was one of the few places that could regularly produce world class national squad. The same region is probably still the biggest producer of talent but Poland has a number of great players currently.

Tell us more about the Polish dude at your work's reaction. :l3:

Bit harsh. Legia are a solid team, lead by the great Miroslav Radovic.

Blackpool is a "solid team" as well, but I expect Celtic to handle sides like that

    Nothing wrong with that, bruvva

You've got to represent your kind

If people only read this forum, they'd think (thanks to hut and I) Paddy McCourt was more than an undisciplined, trick-dribble specialist with unfulfilled potential whose lack of ability to play organized football and use his teammates prevented him from making a bigger impact in his professional and international career:lol:

Instead, they would imagine he was a Catholic George Best

I always thought of him as the Timmy Johan Cruyff. With the worth ethic and boozing habits to go.

He's a guy you'd watch a highlight of and think "my god, HOW is this man NOT playing???" (my thoughts 4 years ago when you first pulled me into this world and I watched him) ... he'd look like a genius, snaking through 6 players to score ... stuff you don't see from too many people

Then you'd watch a match where he got to play and you'd see him seemingly not noticing the other 9 guys in Green/White shirts, attempting to do a Garrincha impersonation every time he got the ball and then you'd see him exhausted and dramatically slowed after about 20 minutes

Waste of talent... But those rare moments where he'd get it right were fucking brilliant to see

The Legia Warsaw manager has got to be sick. That's the kind of thing he'll think about for the next two years when he goes to bed at night. :hair:

Hate to see things like this...

...but it is kind of funny. :mut:

I woke up a while ago. The first thing I did was went to wiki to see the draw to see who Celtic, Spurs, and Hull drew. I saw the two English sides. I was looking for that Scottish flag. Couldn't see it. I thought my eyes were deceiving me. Looked three more times. Scanned everything slowly line by line. No Celtic. I started to think maybe the chairman pulled them out of Europe just to concentrate on the league. Thought it was very unlikely. Went to the CL page on wiki and saw the explanation and pissed myself laughing.

Legia Warsaw drew Aktobe, the Kazakh champion. They lost 4-3 on aggregate to Romanian champions, Steaua Bucuresti in the CL 3rd Q round.

I cannot empathize with Warsaw. It is no so difficult to follow simple rules.

It's probably pretty easy to forget, mind. The suspension was carried over from last season - UEFA should have informed them the player was ineligible when they first submitted the line up.

Now we're selling Forster, basically our only remaining CL quality player. If we blunder into group stage we might literally end up with 'nil-pwa'.

Aye, mibbees but 20 million poond richer and being able tae still attract decent players who wantae play in the CL. Alsae, it wid help the Scoattish coefficient - Ye keep beeling on aboot having tae suffer the indignity o' the qualifiers so consistently achieving the Group stages can only enhance yer argument. Cheer up fer fucks sake.

Whats the point in being in the CL when we can't even hope to win a game never mind make the last 16? Whats the point in getting the CL money when we sell our 8 best players to the likes of Swansea anyway? There is no point.

Ah can understand the frustration, especially when Ye compare the team from two seasons ago, but things can and have changed very quickly tae the good - as well as the bad. Celtic are top o' the tree, have money in the bank and will survive. Ye might get pasted this season in Europe but that's better than no' being in it. The lessening o' the team might make the SPL a wee bit more exciting fer Ye, in a weird way.

    exactly

there's no "up" from there... I hope Forster gets to a decent club. He deserves it. He's been nothing but great for us. I hope the rest of his career is terrific.

we will be fielding an embarrassing squad by CL standards, we have a domestic season not only without rangers, but without Hearts... Going to be a brutal season... Something's got to give... Football can't go on like this

What sort of leeway does rodgers have in terms of spending money? I know Liverpool has signed a bunch of players but not a big time forward... Assuming there's a good amount of cash to spend, who would you like to see them bring in?

Seems to me that Liverpool have done a Spurs, replaced one world class player with several good and maybe-good signings...the preferred option would have been to try and sign 1-2 players who were of a similar (obviously not quite) quality to the one departing, but there aren't many of them about, and enticing them to Liverpool is no doubt a challenge

The problem is a lack of talent within the game. Rodgers has more or less the Suarez transfer fee to spend. The latest rumour is Cavani, he's probably the best player available.

The difference being, we still have ~90% of the Suarez transfer fee.

NBC did their previews of the season yesterday with their two English football experts. Both ex players. Even though I see them all the time running their gums at halftime and after the matches, I can't recall either of their names. Smug black Englishman said Chelsea will win the league. The top four in no particular order will be Chelsea, Man City, Man U, and Arsenal. And WBA, Burnley, and Southampton will be relegated. Blonde old Englishman said that Chelsea will win the league. The top four in no particular order will be Chelsea, Man City, Man U, and Liverpool. And WBA, Burnley, and Sunderland will get relegated.
