That's pretty much spot on. The dialogue is attrocious at times. It's not that it's too simple and lame the way most dialogue failures go, this one runs the other end of the spectrum and tries to be too clever for it's own good. What ends up happening is some conversations that are so complex and long winded you get confused and bored. Now I'm sure some geniuses like Anthony will probably love it, but for the layman film watcher, they will not like this movie...for the most part. The begining and maybe last 30-45 minutes of the film is pretty good. It wasn't horrible that I regret seeing it, it just could have been a lot better had they simplified the dialogue and shortened it up a bit. The positives is the acting and directing was very good.

So in other words. You want Hollywood to continue to think for you and basically spell out the whole damn movie. And not give you an opportunity to make up your own mind and get spoken to like an adult.

Dude just because you like deep movies that require an extra level of thinking doesn't mean it's for everyone. You need to learn to respect other people's opinions. I may think the Transformer films are pure shit, but you don't see me dumping or calling out the people who do enjoy them. The Counselor was an okay movie and a disappointment, that is my opinion, it's not a fact, so respect mine the way I respect yours. I mean it seems like you be getting pissed at times talking films.

You claimed the conversations are complex and confusing. You are a grown ass adult. How else can i take it, other than you dont want to use your brain at the theaters. You want the movie to think and draw the conclusion for you. What more can i expect from someone that uses the movies as a means to catch up on some sleep?

Maybe if you understood complex things in life, you would realize that i am not disrespecting your opinions. I am giving you my opinion on your opinion.

I do use my brain at the theater. I didn't say I didn't understand the movie, I said some of the conversations were complex and confusing. I actually had to rewrite this post as I responded to your angry post with my own angry post. However after rereading my original post I realize I did say your name and maybe you took that as a slight against you, so for that I can say I was wrong.

Don't apologize man. I read all these reviews (and have for years) and rarely comment. Anthony has possibly the most predictably lousy taste in movies of anyone I've ever read. He thinks Beyond Earth was good and that Prometheus was great because they both embraced shallow spiritual themes with which he thinks he identifies.

Therefore, he will condescend to you until the cows come home on whatever film-related topic because, hey, no matter how long you've been posting together, he just knows better than you and everyone else, about practically every subject under the sun.

In my observation if you're disagreeing with him (at least where movies are concerned), you're not far off the right track.

Thanks Fitz and I agree with you completely it's just that I don't want him being all pissy and getting into a pissing match when I basically was the one who threw the first stone.

Trust you to point out nit-picking details, like I got totally the wrong film and the wrong poster who liked it too. :pissed: I was probably thinking about The Expendables which obviously has a strong religious and spiritual element to it, thus I was understandably confused.

I'd appreciate it if you quit telling lies about me Ant A Knee. Saying I fall asleep on movies, thought After Earth was good, neither of which is true. You do that and I'll keep it funny.

Expendables was a no brain action movie with cheesy dialogue. Similar to most 80s action movies.

Also, are you telling me you haven't posted on here talking about who you and your girlfriend have fell asleep watching movies? And because of that never finished the movie and have no plans to? Before you answer please remember Caligula when he made a claim he didn't do something.

Though he didn't say that After Earth was good, just that it wasn't much worse than the mediocre Oblivion.

If Panchy & Lb 4 LB walk into a movie theater together, and nobody is there to wake them up before the opening credits end, does the movie really exist?

Yes I'm saying that. I may have said my girl fell asleep or her and I got bored and turned it off but as far as I know I only went to sleep on 1 movie I recall and even that was more based on me being drunk and passing out. So yeah, if you got the evidence post it because I do not fall asleep on movies.

If I get sleepy watching tv or a movie usually I'll turn it off and go lay on my bed to sleep, occasionally I'll just turn over leave the tv on a make the conscious decision to take a nap right then and there. It's pretty rare though, because I don't like sleeping with any noise as it tends to keep me up.

Those were the ones I didn't like, so I decided to watch a different movie rather than waste my time watching crap. I'll give a film a certain amount of time to catch my interest and if it doesn't happen after a while I'll move on. Like I say I don't fall asleep during movies because I need silence to sleep. If I get tired I'll turn it off and go to bed and finish it later but even then it just means it's late or I'm tired from a hard day, but I don't have a short attention span where watching a movie makes me sleepy. And I've never in my entire life fallen asleep in a movie theater.

Do you know with the slow movies and the ones that seem boring, many many many times the whole 80% of the movie bored the fuck out of movie. But the ending could easily just blow me the fuck away to the point that when i re-watched it a second time, all those parts that are boring, arent so boring anymore. That is something i learned as a kid, watching black and white movies.

I know a guy, friend of the family, my parents age. Real manic dude. Always on edge, always needs something to do. Successful in life, but he always has to keep moving.........like a fucking shark. When I was a kid we went to go see "Aliens" in the movie theater, and this fucker fell dead asleep, 20 minutes in.

My father tells me, as long as he's known this guy (since they were kids), he's never stayed awake in a movie theater.................ever. It's like he just shuts down to catch up on his rest, if he's forced to stay still for any amount of time at all.

The Counselor - Based on the reviews I read, I figured this might be a dark horse with the people involved. Too gritty/pulpy for the critics but well made, kinetic and plenty fun to watch. Like say, a Tony Scott film. I was wrong.

Ridley Scott directing, Cormac McCarthy writing, Michael Fassbender, Javier Bardem, Brad Pitt, Penelope Cruz and plenty of other cameos. A lot of my favorite people involved. This was a hot steaming pile of shit. Ridley trying to make a movie like his brother, and being completely out of his element.

It sure looked pretty, like any Ridley Scott movie, but this was clunky as fuck. Made zip bit of sense. The dialogue was awful, and I felt bad for Fassbender, forcing himself to cry through scenes that felt laughable. The one on one story telling scenes you would see in any random Tony Scott film, was awkwardly awful (Cameron Diaz was especially bad), no matter the talent of the actor involved.

Maybe Ridley was still mourning the loss of his brother and dropped the ball on this one.

    4/10
