No doubt, JMM always was the type to moan and bitch about his purse and was always really hard to work with. Read what Morales has to say about him, it's not flattery at all. And who can forgot the Chris John fiasco when he lost in the boxing hotbed of Indonesia for peanuts instead of fighting Pacquiao in Las Vegas for the biggest purse of his caree by far. Fortunately for him, he still managed to make it big due to his tremendous skills and being Pacquiao's Mexican foil. However his business acumen are not fit to even take charge of a kid's lemonade stand (no matter that he studied to be some kind of low level acountant) so can't say I'm too surprised to hear that he's broke even after making millions.
Yeah man.. you’re definitely onto something. Marquez has always kind of had that vibe like he was jealous of other fighters. Back when Morales and Barrera were the big names... Marquez was out there fighting in places like Indonesia...not really making waves. He had the skills no doubt a but he wasn’t as marketable. It took him forever to get the recognition he deserved and by the time he knocked out Pacquiao people finally started noticing him...Canelo came up and stole the spotlight making hundreds of millions, money Marquez could never dream of. I think Marquez and his trainer Nacho have always had something against Canelo. They’ve been trash talking him for years probably because they’re salty about how much money and fame Canelo’s got. Marquez made some decent money but nothing close to what Canelo's bringing in. So yeah, it doesn’t surprise me that Marquez is always whining about stuff like De La Hoya. That seems to fit with how he's been throughout his career.
Nacho also badmouths Sal Sanchez. I think Hamed avoided JMM like the plague when JMM was mandatory in the late 90s.
Yes and no. There was some hype around him, but he certainly didnt help his case with that stinker loss against Norwood. By the time he had rebuilt and became marketable again, naseem was pretty much retired
I know for a fact JMM avoided a fight with Khan. Nacho himself admitted Khan was too fast for his fighter in an interview.
I was a big fan of Khan, and he may well have dropped Marquez early and built up a lead, but it would only have been a matter of time until JMM caught up to him and finished him off.
Hamed may very well have avoided JMM when he was hus mandatory and pretty much unknown outside of hardcore boxing fans. But he did offer him a fight afterward (he fought Augie Sanchez instead) as stated by HBO during the broadcast. I posted the clip already but since it doesn't fit the "Hamed ducked him" narrative that is prevalent over here, it was conveniently ignored. Who knows what the purse and conditions were, and true a whole lot of other names had also turned it down, which suggest it wasn't great. But unlike Marquez, these were legit stars who had leverage so I think its safe to say it was another case of JMM misplaying his hand.
Terrible mistake by JMM. Pretty much a given he would have drubbed hamed. Would have turned him into a star much earlier
I wouldn't go as far to say a win over Hamed was pretty much a given, but with the benefit of hindsight, he definitely would have been the favorite.
I’d definitely have made Marquez a favorite over Hamed but if it’s prime Naz, he’s very much live. JMM liked to slug it out and he’s been down his fair share of times.
I guess it's not impossible, but seeing how JMM was able to tame a much better power punching southpaw in Pacquiao, I dont give Hamed much of a chance. I guess the Norwood fight is a counter exampe, but that was a good 2-3 years prior to the sanchez fight
DLH I would’ve tap that ass……so good…easy. https://youtube.com/shorts/EnTKd30gRnc?si=-vsIPXIyWkFPwXow at least his “gf” sounds womanly….
Lets stop fooling ourselves, his girl is hot as fuck. And yes, prime DLH would have given clenelo a boxing lesson
Yeah, I retract what I said before. Definitely potential tranny. I don't mind a bit of plastic surgery (in fact I like it) but she's way over the top. Seems like she can't even blink.
Yeah I agree. De La Hoya had a solid chin so I can't really see Canelo knocking him out. Honestly I could picture Canelo losing a close decision. He tends to struggle against slick boxers and guys who move a lot. So yeah Oscar in 12 SD.
Depends on the weight imo. Yes Hoya probably beats the 154lbs Canelo but loses at 160 and is crushed at 168.
Hard to believe he used to easily be one of the best looking guys around. He looks like he's always been a crazy fat loon
Oscar has some comedic talent, and Clap Back Thursday's was funny for the first 3 weeks, but now he's overdone it. He's gone from amusing to plain cringey. Very very cringey.
