:bears: once I really master then I'll take a clip I cant believe Jim at Beastskills does them with a clap! that is impressive!
He must have titanium tendons. I would probably lose my front teeth if I did something like that. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they could do at least 50 with perfect form and good speed.
Well, it's sets of 5 today. I have already done 3 sets of 5 handstand pushups. It really makes a huge difference. Eventually, I'll do them weighted!
Woo-hoo! Sets of 6 today. I was going to alternate days, but I decided not to. I am gonna shorten the gap between my handstand pushup strength and my chinup strength!
I sued to love HSPs, but I haven't done them in a long time. I actually read that they are really bad for the shoulder/arm sockets.
I don't remember. I also read that leg extension machines and pull down machines are paricularly bad for joints, since the range of motion is restricted by the machine, putting most of the stress the joints. Actually, what I read stated that free weights are the easiest on the body when used properly, due to the fact that the body moves naturally without the restrictions of a machine.
I'm with you on some of it.. Leg Extensions are a terrible exercise! lat pull downs with a wide grip and done behind the neck are also no good on your joints... but HSPU, I do not think that is bad at all.. I think generally handleing your own weight is a good thing.. now if you had no strength and tried one I guess you could hurt yourself
Well, my hands, shoulders, and triceps have never been stronger or healthier. I was pressing 225 for reps no problem the other day! ::
And now I'm doing sets of 6 in handstand pushups and sets of 13 in chins. This is a great idea!
That's good. I'm gonna see how many reps I can get up to per set. There's a guy here at work who can do 30, but he's 160lbs. I'm doing sets of 13, but it is definitely a bit hard at times. The way I see it, I wanna see if I can work up to sets of 25-30 reps. If so, then I can do ropeclimbing in the spring with no problem at all. As for the handstand pushups, I'm varying my hand-spacing, my back arch, my distance from the wall and even getting one or two without the wall although it is still nearby if I slip.
how often do you guys do each set? do you do them all day or just after work? :dunno: for the last few days i've been doing a set every 30min, alternating between chins and hspus....good pace for me i think, but i can only do these at home...which is maybe 4 hours after work before i go to sleep...so i cant get anywhere near the numbers you guys are talking about
I space them out evenly while I'm at work, and I do them perhaps a bit closer together when I'm at home. I am currently alternating days: yesterday was chins, and today is HSPU. I do them an hour or so apart when I'm at work. I do'em at 10,11,12(at the gym) and either at 2pm. I do a set or two at home as well.
Well, I have done two sets so far today after having done 5 sets of 8 yesterday. Today I did a set of 8 and then a set of 10!   I'll do more sets of 10 at home. GTG for life! ::
I did 5 sets of 10 last night and will prolly do some tonight. I'm going to try to rig up a one armed chin deal like you have Buddy
Well, I will be doing some tonight. Today is another handstand pushup day, but it is also Valentine's Day so I made sure I kept my woman happy.
