Actually, she's a fan of me. :: She likes to see me do the chinups and handstand pushups because she pretty much supports me in anything I do. She knows I like to train and I like challenges, so she cheers me on and since she's my best friend, I have all the support I need. :dunno:
Today is likely 11s or 12s. I'm feeling good. I bought an herbal three-week detox thing that cleans out your body and helps your liver maximize its function. Other than a genuinely disturbing case of the splashy turds, I'm all good today! :: ::
12s definitely. It was a bit of work, but I got'em, no probs. This is definitely improving my strength.
2 sets of 12 today. I wasn't even focused on them. It's getting that easy. I also stood without the wall for 2-3 seconds. My gains are coming along nicely!
I am now doing sets of 15-17 reps now. I'll hit 20 reps in a few weeks. My goal is an improvement of 5 per month. That means I should be able to do around 65-70 reps at the end of next December. We'll see how it goes.
Well, Lokster, I figure that my other training has taken a detour, but if I keep pushing forward, I won't lose too much in the overhead pressing...I might even gain. Maybe by summer, I'll feel confident enough to walk on my hands. :dunno:
Well, first set of 16 is done for today. It's harder than usual, but I'm also losing bodyfat. I'm about 210 now.
I started doing mine outside, last night I did 5 sets or so outside.. it was so nice out! plus when kicking up againest a brick wall I don't have to worry about jacking up the drywall
Great thread! this excercise is amazing for balance. Becaue of handstand pushups, I can do walking handstands across a room unaided now ! Its amazing how good your strength and balance improves. I usually do three sets. first set between9-11reps, the second set rougly 8-10 and then 5-7 for the third set. However it seems I'm plateaued a bit. Most I've done is 13 but I find it moe difficult to increase that. Maybe I shuold increase the sets I'm doing like you guys are. I'd love to keep improving in this area.
I would make sure you space out your sets, Breeze. You don't want to blow your wad by trying to do it all close together. The idea here is functional strength, which means you can do it any day of the week. I usually have at least an hour between sets. Hope this helps. I can actually now do one without touching the wall, but not always. Sometimes I have to touch a tiny bit when I start to wobble. Balance is a bitch in this one.
Thanks Buddy, you know thats a good tip. Im so used to doing excercises the free weight/weightroom way. resting for maybe 2 min or so between sets I haven't tried do a wall pushup by itself without the wall, Im actually gonna try that.........
I would wait until you can do at least 20 against the wall comfortably. Who knows? Maybe your stabilizer muscles are stronger and can handle it. Mine can't yet but everybody is built different. How much do you weigh and what's your body dimensions? Bodyfat level? Height? That type of thing.
I'm around 5'7" and weigh usually betweeen 145-150. Kind of like Zab Judah, but my frame is broader than his. I'm not sure what my body fat percentage is though.......
Buddy, today I tried myself on one set, using the wall outside (Brick) and in the grass so its a lil softer if I bang my head or fall.. I managed 47 reps
Now I'm REALLY jealous! :: :: :: Damn, I might get 25 or so. Who knows?!? I just have to do my sets of 18 this week. I'll keep increasing week-by-week.
dont be, remember when I first tryed weighted chins, I did like only 4 :: plus, I'm about 195 lbs, aren't you around 280 or so? that makes it harder:tease:
Oh, THAT'S REALLY NICE! Who do you think I am? Hanzy? :: Yeah, being 280 is a bitch. I can barely do 20 chins. BTW, I'm down to 75lbs counterweight on the one-armed chinups. How are yours going?
:: I'm just playin Buddy Boy:: You are prolly leaner than me! I have just been chinning and chinning I was going to try the one arms yesterday but just did my regulars if I have to make a guess.. I say by June 1st I will be able to do 1 one armed chin
I expect to get one by then as well, but it's only the beginning, That guy, who was talked about at beastskills, could climb up a rope with one arm.
Well, today's the day. I'm gonna get 100 HSPUs today.:bears: As Al Bundy would say, "Let's rock!" :: ::
First set of 19 is officially in the bookds, and with the warmup set of 6 I did earlier, that's 25 thus far. Frig, it was harder than I thought it would be. :eeeek: :dunno:
