I don't even know what a weight belt is for, TBH. I have very minimum equipment, just the bar and some iron. I do 1 arm benches on a stability ball (working my way up to 100lb on that as well) and I have to clean whatever I squat. Old school baby! (I weigh about 170)

Can't do 350 yet. Im working with 260 for reps right now, but thats going up very easy and progress is coming along linearly in everything, so Im thinking 3 months or so of adding weight to the bar and 350 is a realistic target. Strength training is the fucking bomb, every work out has a purpose!

oh fuck off you and stop patronizing me! Im just done telling you the other week that Im a novice on every lift and you two freaks are advanced or Elite for everything!

I'll get there though. I was actually pretty glad to find out how weak I was on the major lifts, in a weird way because it gave my work outs a purpose. Before I was just going through the motions with the vague intent of 'getting in shape' and generally getting nowhere. Now I have very specific targets which makes things way more fun and effective.:crafty:

I dunno, Lok. I can't see that vid at work, so I'll have to check it at home. I can do sets of 20 in the ol' handstand pushups now, so the next midrange goal is sets of 25. Eventually I'll be doing well over 100 every two days. I alternate them now, yesterday I did about 95 chins before I saw Iron Man, and today I'm doing about the same in HSPU. Between the two, I've changed my overall strength and it feels easier on the joints as well.

i do sets of 40 everytime now.. I'm going to go all out this weekend and see how many I can do.

I'm just doing them on the floor though.. the real way is on blocks or something so your head doesnt prevent full range of motion.. but.. oh well

You'd have to be careful that the cement blocks didn't slip. Regardless, The range of motion is increased if you hunch your shoulders or arch your back so that your eyes are aimed at the ground like you're doing a reverse incline press.

I know soon I'll be doing sets of 25 and then I'll just keep going up. I'm way stronger than I used to be. It's good to keep this type of overall body strength. Functional strength, that is.

I thought about trying kettlebells, but I'm wondering if it's worth it.

You guys gotta get yourselves a weighted vest for your hand stand push ups! I can't believe how much stronger Im getting with this thing - up to 30 chins from 14 and Im up to 100 push ups from 60 odd. In both cases I just stopped at a round figure, rather than going to failure. I've been working both in low rep ranges 6 reps, 5 reps, 3 reps, 2 reps with more weight each time, so I wasn't sure if that would translate to bigger numbers without the weight, but I just tested out today & works a treat. Doing chin without all that weight on my back feels like Im gonna launch myself through the ceiling. :crafty:

Im guessing you freaks could probably easily get up to 50 HSPU's with one of these things.:eeeek:

I have a weightvest that goes up to 50lbs, but when you do handstand pushups, it starts to fall over your head even if you have it buckled at the waist. Perhaps if I figure out a way to have a strap between the back and front that goes between my legs without pinching my balls or choking my 10lbs of dangling fury, I might be able to use it for handstand pushups.

ah....never thought about that. I've certainly seen guys doing HSPUs with vests though, you should find a solution, where there's a will there's a way! They'll send your numbers soaring if your anything like me.

Well, I'm still doing sets of 20, which is amazing compared to what I started out with. Now I have to do sets of 20 with my chinups on a regular basis, and then I'll move it up to sets of 25 for each! :bears:

I think I said a few months ago that when I could do 25 consecutive handstand pushups, I would post it. I'm getting there but I'm not at that point yet...besides, there are too many photoshop enthusiasts here.

4 sets of 25 HSPU, baby! WOO-HOO! Alas, all is not perfect. My new computer has given me the blue screen of death, so I am forced to use my laptop until I can get the big one fixed. Fortunately I have a warranty, but there's a ton of good stuff on it, so I don't want to lose it. I am able to boot up for a few hours or so, so I'm gonna transfer everything.

Still, 4 sets of 25. That's a record for me. I did them outside where the patio stones are, and they provided enough traction that I wasn't worried about slipping! :kidcool:

From here, the next goal is 30, then 35, then 40, etc etc. When I can do 4 sets of 50, I won't increase the overall reps but instead I will eventually build to 2 sets of 100. :crafty:

I'm still knocking out the 25s, but I'm trying to diversify a little bit. I think I might drop down to 20s and also jump into circuit training. I don't do enough of that, and I have as much mass as I'll ever need. In fact, I'd look better if I lost a bit of muscle...and bodyfat!

I realize that you're trying your usual thing of sparking up an argument, but I don't see any way that I'm being hypocritical. I still do them, but I am focusing on other facets of my training. I'm trimming down and cutting up.

I guess it could be worse, I could have stopped training like you did, Ty.
