I am on the 3rd fight bandwagon. There needs to be some type of closure. However, I have a feeling that this third fight may be happening a little too late. But like they say better late then never besides JMM deserves a big pay day. I'll Holla 5000

Getting a pay day does seem to be what much of this is about.

Marquez wants to get paid, just like he wanted to to take a beating from Mayweather.

I just don't see how anyone can watch Marquez and Pacquiao the past couple years since their rematch, and think Marquez is going to do any better against Pacquiao now than he did in '04 and '08.

The fight looks like a mismatch to me, whether it's at 147 or a catchweight... you could make it at 140 and I don't think it matters.

Shame on Pacquiao if he fights JMM. JMM is old and too small. Save these bitch fights for Mayweather Pacquiao you're better than that.

Considering Marquez ARGUABLY Won 1 or BOTH of those Fights, WHY Would he Have to "Do Any Better Against Pacquiao"???...By Merely MATCHING his Effort of the 1st Two Bouts, we'll Get ANOTHER Classic btwn them...

1st of All, English ISN'T Marquez's 1st Language, so REED Cuts him Some SLACK on the Mispelling...2nd, REED Doubts Very Seriously that Marquez HIMSELF was the 1 that Got that Shirt Made....

I don't think he can match the effort. He is 37, has had a lot of hard{er} fights since 2004 , and is not likely to be as effective at 140+. I think he stands to lose and lose clearly and with it run the risk of revisionist summations of their first two fights. His upside is, of course, a massive payday.

Does Team Marquez not know ONE person who is somewhat fluent in English?

    Quel idiots.

And I agree with the general concensus that Pacquiao shouldn't fight Marquez, although in one sense I can see why some people might wanna see it, to complete the trilogy etc, I think JMM is too old and small.

They are actually the same size, but Manny has proven himself to be a freakish force at the higher weights and Marquez not.

Pacquiao stops Marquez this time if the fight comes off, but having said that, it won't be a mismatch before the stoppage.

Quite simply, Marquez knows how to fight Pacquiao, and his fairly aggressive counter punching style does very well against Manny.

Against Floyd, he was completely out of his depth at 147, and basically fighting a bigger, stronger, younger, more defensive version of himself.

I would probably rather see him fight Berto, because Berto is undefeated and a welterweight. But actually no, Berto has fought no-one, literally, he doesn't deserve the fight or the payday.

Marquez at least deserves the payday more than Berto.

Really, I would rather see Manny fight the Bradley vs Alexander winner, at least the winner of that fight is going to be more proven and deserving than Berto.

Even if Manny Clearly WON the 3rd Fight, it WOULDN'T B this Massive BLOWOUT that Some R Expecting...Based PURELY on Last Night, Marquez Isn't THAT Shot...He's STILL Accurate, STILL Has Power, STILL Puts his Punches Together Well...There's NOT Gonna B a Size ADVANTAGE for Pac & Marquez has Always, ALWAYS Matched Up WELL w/Him...

There's Enough UNCERTAINTY Regarding the 1st 2 Fights to WARRANT a 3rd Bout...& Again, Marquez Showed Last Night that he's STILL Got Some Fight Left In him...

I think I'd be okay with that but I'd rather see him fight Guerrero.

REED, his legs are not there anymore. When you see a technical/mobile boxer like Marquez fighting flat-footed, there's a huge problem. Pacquiao won't have to chase him around anymore. He will be there, like a sitting duck, waiting for the ref to stop the fight. He can't move like he used to anymore.

Sure, Marquez's Mobility is DECREASED, but it's NOT as if he's just Gonna SIT THERE & Allow Pac to Tee Off on him...The DECREASED Mobility has INCREASED Marquez's Accuracy AND Power, in REED's Opinion...

As GREAT as Pac is, Defense has NEVER Been his Strong Suit...Pac's Gonna "FEEL" Marquez in a 3rd Fight, just as he Did in the Previous 2...

    agREED...

140 Preferrably...142-144 @ the Absolute HIGHEST...If Pac/Arum/Roach DEMAND 147 it LENDS Credence to Marquez's Claim that Pac has Been RELUCTANT to Fight him Since their 2nd Bout...Dude just OFFICIALLY Weighed 144 for Margarita...If he'd Fight Margarita @ that Weight yet DEMAND Marquez Come Higher, that'll Make Pac Look Bad...

Well the Plasterito fight was at 150, but yeah, Pacquiao can comfortably weigh in at 144, so it would look bad if he requested this fight to be any higher than that.

And TLC, who do would you like to see fight Guerrero? Pacquiao or Marquez? And are you joking? They would both destroy him.

Also, of course there are fighters I would rather see Pacquiao against, but there is only one reason that I'm not totally against this fight, and that's that Marquez deserves all the paydays he can get.

And seeing as he did so well in the other 2 fights, I guess it can be argued he deserves the chance to get a W against Pacquiao, even if it's extremely unlikely now at 140 something.

    Marquez of course.

I don't think there is anyone else at LW that is really intriguing and Guerrero at least could be more highly rated than Katsidis.

Thinking about, that wouldn't be a bad fight. If he beats Guerrero he'll have cleaned out 135, which would be impressive, especially considering he's looked somewhat vulnerable and old in every fight he's had there.

I haven't seen Guerrero fight for a while actually, but if he's as good as he was a few fights ago, he's surely better than Katsidis.

I'm really not interested in Pacquiao/JMM III. I don't think it'd be competitive, and I think it'd hurt JMM's legacy, and when all is said and done, Pacquiao won't get any credit for the win either.

JMM won't be able to handle Pacquiao's power anymore. People forget, they last fought at 130! Pacquiao would have disdain for JMM's power, and would debilitate him with body-shots if he couldn't knock him out early.

I love JMM, but this fight wouldn't even be competitive.

@ Least Katsidis had a PUNCHER'S Chance Against Marquez...Guerrero WOULDN'T Even Have that, in REED's Opinion...

Yeah, he mentioned Morales last night, but as you say, that fight's waited this long, it'll still be there until Morales loses.

I'm sure Marquez would rather get a payday to get knocked out by Pacquiao before taking that retirement bout.

I don't see Marquez fighting much more, not sure he should, either.

well, he managed to hurt Escobeda and Casamayor, both common opponents, more than Katsidis did.

Katsidis is more of a volume puncher who hits hard than a killshot artist, so I don't necessarily agree.

    Good ol' Arum

"But it's stupidity to make this guy, who is the welterweight champion(Manny) go down to 142-143. Or to starve himself."

    Pac-Cotto 145 Welterweight Championship?
    Pac-Margarito 150 Jr. Middleweight Championship?
    :scratcher:
Weren't they also originally asking for the Mosley fight at 142, when he was still percieved as a threat.
