The Imitation Game review

The Imitation Game Watched this british film starring Benedict Cumberbatch mainly because it was nominated for Best Picture of The Year and Best Actor, but frankly I wasn't very intrigued by it. It turned out to be an interesting drama...yet predictable. The less you know the better, but as opposed to what the director thinks is a surprise revelation at the end, we immediately knew what the inventor was creating from early in the film to try to decode Nazi Germany's Enigma messages. This knowledge doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the film and in particular Cumberbatch's performance as Alan Turing, the eccentric stuttered brilliant mathematician, cryptologist scientist with poor social skills. Keira Knightley delivers the best performance of her career as Cumberbatch's protégé for which she also got a Best Supporting Actress nomination. What really turned me off was the politically correct LGBT agenda pushed down our throats at the film's final scene closing text as this movie's main theme was not remotely addressing the issue postulated there. Ah, the power of GLAAD! 7.5/10
