Putting aside TLC's comments about observing the size of a man's penis at the weigh ins for a minute I think Jones doing the whole deal where he signs things as champion 2011 basically comes down to this.

He firmly believes just like many successful people that in order to reach a goal you have visualize it being already reached (for example Arnold Schwarzenegger did the same) thus I don't think it has to do with disrespect as much as building confidence. Therefore I don't blame him one bit for doing it.

Man, I am really nervous for Jones. I want him to win but it's a tough matchup.

 

Forget the penis sizes and arrogance versus confidence, this is one hell of a match up.

I can't wait. Jones has the tools to win but Rua is just as relentless as they come when he is right. If the best Rua shows up, this might be the best big fight in UFC history.

I have been watching combat sports for a minute now, if you are world class, you will have an arrogance about yourself. You should. You are world class. Jones is the real deal. EVEN if he does not beat Shogun tonight, he will be a world champion, believe that. Shogun is a perfect fighter to beat Jones. Experienced, BJJ Black Belt, great standup, vicious leg kicks. If Jones beats Shogun, it is huge and don't let tell you different. Jones is a special fighter. To Haymaker, Shogun may beat Jones, but there isn't a man on this planet that can manhandle Jones. KO, sub out, sure. But I would wager Jones could hold his own against Cain Velasquez. Not saying he'd beat him. But Cain wouldn't manhandle him. I have spoke with guys that have seen Cain and Ryan Bader grapple. What Jones did to Bader was sick. Jones is the real deal people.

And jar, I somewhat agree. I expect Rua to win, but Jones is a proper elite fighter if he beats Rua.

I'm not THAT impressed with the Bader win to be honest though. Impressed with the way he dominated Bader? Of course, but I just don't thnk Bader is that good.

 

i agree i don't think Bader is all that as an MMA fighter as well. But he is world class as a wrestler, and the fact Jones just dominated Bader in Bader's world/game, that was sick.

Indeed. Let's be honest, Jones has absolutely walked through Bonnar, Hamill, Vera, Matushenko, and Bader without ever even being remotely challenged.

That is huge. It sets him apart from the rest of the division. If Rua beats him it is a huge win. Personally I think it is going be a war while it last.

 

Bonnar won the 3rd against Jones, so I wouldn't say he wasn't challenged there

 

Jones tired in the third and I also think Bonnar won that round, but Jones absolutely horse whipped Bonnar in that fight. The spinning elbow knockdown, all the take downs and the suplex, the dude beat Bonnar as bad as anyone has short of stopping him on cuts.

So, yeah, Jones narrowly lost 1 round in 7 UFC fights. OK. My bad.

I was going to say actually REED, you being a Jones fan is all well and good etc, and having the bandwagon, no problem, BUT, you do need to consider the whole "SOULBROTHER" part.

Jaded is a world class wrestler, yes, but I don't think it as translated to MMA too well. He pulled guard against Jones for Gods sake, and Bones made him pay for it.
