Well it's part of the equation I guess, but it isn't so dominating a factor that it should be blown up everywhere across the media...Pavlik is white, white, white, white, white, white, white,....even he said himself, he's frustrated about it. It is NOT unusual to see a white fighter, and it is not unusual for a white fighter to hold a title. So my guess, is that it has to be a domestic American thing, not a 'white' thing.

The Philippines has a rich tradition of boxing. Along with basketball, it's one of the nation's most popular sports. Aside from Manny Pacquiao however, Filipinos suck as much at boxing as they do at basketball.

 

Give the public one guy that can fight and has a ton of heart/power/ and a good chin and KEEPS WINNING..and the FANS all the fans, but esp. those of the same ethnic group will cling to him....you don't have to be GREAT..just have to be good enough to compete...GATTI became very popular with his style of fighting..it wasn't cause he was white but because he went to WAR all the time.....but most of the tickets that were purchase for his fight were from WHITE customers...JUST bring the fans...bring 'em...Arnaoutis sucks ass..but he has a big greek following...Malignaggi is ass but he sells out the ballroom at the Garden, alot of his brooklyn fans and alot of italians....Cotto vs. Judah will be big draw...and the fight is being made in the right/correct location....not in some Native American casino in Idaho and shit...

 

Yeah, but People get crazy. I have been to several local fights and Mexicans get a bit crazy with their flags and songs and talking shit to everyone not on board. I mean, if their fighter loses it doesn't mean shit about their culture or to them personally. I don't get it. I hate it when people see my name or learn it and then they try to play the Italian card and somehow the fact that there great grandparents came from Italy I am supposed to give a shit.
