pretty good so far.. although I do have a bit of a hard time seeing Brad Pitt as a tough guy..

Pretty good so far? I waited til the credits started rolling for that movie to get good.

But then again you're watching the Assasignation of Jesse James. I saw the Assassination of Jesse James. Must be 2 different movies.

 

It's not an action-Western, it's mostly a character study of the man who killed Jesse James, Robert Ford (in a great performance from Casey Affleck).

I wasn't expecting action. I was expecting a decent drama and any gun fighting or action would have been a bonus. Still, for a drama I thought it was shit. I Wouldn't sit through it again.

Casey is a good actor.. that said.. this movie is shit:: when I said pretty good so far.. I was only a couple minutes into it and was still curious.::

 

Fido was very very good but inconventional. :clap: :clap: :clap:

 

RAMBO - 7/10

PREMISE - Some missionaries get kidnapped by an evil Army of
vietnamese soldiers and Rambo joins a group of mercs to go and free them.

CRITIQUE - You've probably heard there wasn't much plot to this one and it's true. Lots of action and gore though, and still plenty entertaining. These were some pretty cool gore scenes too. Overall a fairly entertaining movie although it was pretty much plotless and did nothing to extend or delve into the Rambo storyline.

THE POINT? - This movie is further evidence that the point behind movies is no longer about art AND making money but just about making money now. These are truly the last days. Rocky 6 and Rambo is nothing more than Stallone putting a cherry on top of his final nest egg.
REWATCHABILITY - 4/5



RENDITION - 7.5/10

PREMISE - A few stories in one. An Egyptian american is grabbed at the airport by the CIA and tortured for possible involvement in terrorist activities. One of the agents who is witnessing it doesn't agree with the torture and doubts the guys involvment. Meanwhile the guys wife is trying to figure out what happened to him, while arabs are recruited into terrorist groups and blow shit up.

Critique - This is the kind of drama I like. Nice conversations and stuff actually happening. There wasn't a lot of action happening but the drama and dialogue was satisfying.

REWATCHABILITY - 3/5

 

Yes, that movie about zombies turning into something useful in rich people's family, :: Billy Connolly never said a word in the movie.

I had heard that Renditition was crap, but after watching it... it wasnt nearly as bad as I thought it'd be. Its actually a good movie. I give it a 7/10. Its a better movie than The Kingdom, thats for damn sure! The Kingdom got all that hype, and ended up suckin ass!

The Ruins: C R A P. 2/10

 

They're currently filming a movie in Newark called 'Cadillac Records'. It's about the Chess Records label, and musicians like Etta James, Howling Wolf, Muddy Waters and Willie Dixon. Should be a pretty cool movie, which at the least will have an awesome soundtrack.

At the very least, Beyonce is playing Etta James, so look for her to cover 'At Last' and have a HUGE hit with it. I just hope she does the song and the character justice, since Beyonce doesn't look or sound anything like Etta James.

It sucks though, because they have a couple of streets blocked off in Newark, and all of the on street parking is full of trailers, tow trucks, cops, security, and all movie related vehicles (There's a ton of classic cars in the area for the film too), and there's no place to park. And I work in that area, so it sucks. And since Booker became the mayor, they ticket anything, and I mean anything (cars with PBA Shields included) that is illegally parked.

Hopefully this movie is a success and exposes real talented black musicians to a generation of kids who don't know anything of black music other then Puff Diddy, Kane West, Jay Z and the rest of those talentless hacks.
