The hooker scene was genius!

 

I admit it had a couple of good scenes. It's been awhile since I've seen it but from what I remember most of the movie was spent with stupid people making bad decisions they would never make in real life, just to advance the plot.

 

HALLOWEEN

SCORE - D

PREMISE - A kid is bullied by his peers and step dad and is neglected by his big sister. He tortures animals and eventually becomes a killer only to grow and become...Michael Myers. That's the killer from the Halloween movie, not to be confused with the actor who plays Austin Powers.

CRITIQUE - It seemed like they tried to write a build up to why the kid became a nutty killer but it just came out so flat and empty. The dialogue was weak and the whole story was a joke. It tried to take itself seriously but overall it turned out to be no different than a Saw gore fest.

FINAL THOUGHT - This movie has killed me on remakes, seriously. I mean we already know that movies these days don't compare to the ones just 10 years ago, so why do I think they'll make a better remake? The answer is they won't and I'm not going to watch another one.



HOW SHE MOVE

SCORE - C-

PREMISE - Young student returns from private school to the hood for her sisters funeral. She has to deal with female haters, and the need to make money which she will do by getting back into the dancing/stomping she used to do when she lived in the hood. But first she must figure out which dance team to join up with.

Critique - Another formulaic money maker. Situations arose that weren't even resolved all the way, and some a bit too easily. For instance if your friend stole your dance moves and cost you a contest why would you still be hanging with her and never even ask "yo! what the fuck!" The dancing wasn't that impressive either except for a couple scenes. Feel free to skip this one, it's not that good.

 

Forbidden Kingdom 1.5/10---boring so I fell asleep.

 

In The Name Of The King: 2/10...TERRIBLE...Boring...




One Last Call: 3.5/10...SHITTY...people get calls detailing the last few seconds of their lives before they die a terrible death.....

 

27 DRESSES

SCORE - C+

PREMISE - Young girl is in love with her boss but must watch as her sister winds up stealing him away. Meanwhile she has a young writer doing a story on her attending 27 different weddings and still having all the bridesmaids dresses from them. Will she fall for the young writer, or get the love of her boss?

CRITIQUE - Another formulaic chick flick. But why are these things always so good no matter how much I want to hate them? This one was pretty good even if it does follow every other chick flick formula. Guy & girl meet fall in love, guy betrays girl somehow, she gets mad but forgives him in time for the wedding.

WHY - Does Hollywood insist on hiring actress who look like other actesses. I mean for instance Malin Akerman who plays the sister is an exact replica of Camereon Diaz from looks to sound and even her laugh. I guess it's cause she's cheaper.

 

that movie sucked, american "chic flicks" are horrible.

 

Watched Gladiator last night for the first time in years. I had forgotten how GREAT a movie this was! Classic battle scenes, and great acting by Crowe, not to mention Joaquin Phoenix turned in one of the best villian performances Ive ever seen. I'd easily say that Gladiator surpasses Braveheart. 10/10

 

Any Canadian chick flick you can recommend?

 

RISE OF THE FOOTSOLDIER

GRADE - B

PREMISE - A young British tough goes from being a professional football fan warrior, to bouncer and slowly working his way up the gangster trails of muscle for hire and drug dealer.

CRITIQUE - This movie was very good, and well acted by the lead guy. It's full of violence, language, nudity & sex and it's a good gangster flick. At times it was hard to understand some of the thick British accents but you shouldn't miss this one.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS - This movie is based on actual events and a book written by the guy portrayed as the lead actor.

 

yea it was on HBO, i watched it again too. awesome movie.

 

my girl forced me to watch this, and it was pretty much the same as 'how to lose a guy in 10 days' or 'failure to launch', but i guess it was okay for a chick flick.

premise: a socially inept recluse who lives in the garage of his deceased father's house (now owned by his brother and his wife) brings home a sex doll as his new girlfriend. concerned, the brother and his wife consult w/ a family doctor to see what's wrong w/ him. the main character goes through emotional struggles w/ his new girlfriend while his family and friends play along as if the doll is really real.

critique: good screenplay, another strong performance by ryan grosling.

 

Lake Placid...very watchable B movie about a killer croc, script is funny enough and it moves along ok, 7/10

Bill Pullman is such a pathetic actor that he's fun to watch. Plus Oliver Platt, that deputy guy, and the old lady are all funny as hell in this movie. I agree, I like watching Lake Placid! 7/10

Yeah. The one from The Golden Girls. I had forgot her name.

 

Yeah, that was a fun movie with a decent script. It's not a serious movie but it delivers the goods. I'd rank Anaconda in that same field as well.

 

Anaconda sucked dick! The only thing that made it watchable is prime JLo's fine ass! Other than that it was stupid.

And Anaconda 2 might be one of the worst movies ever.
