About a soldier who returns to his home town in northern England to get revenge on the group of thugs who abused his mentally challenged brother.

It's a very strange movie, it goes from kind of silly to very disturbing and tense. Some Brit guys here talked about it some time ago and one said it was better than No Country For Old Men, and while I disagree with that statement, it was certainly a very good movie.

I stand by that statement, Sir!!

The two actors playing the brothers are superb.

Yes, the thugs were also entertaining, you almost felt bad for them, almost.

    The Claim

A man sells his wife and child for a Gold claim and over the years builds a town upon the claim. The future existence of the town depends on whether the new cross country rail line will go through this town or not.

This is what a Western should look like. Cold, bleak, dirty! Great looking movie. The acting was a bit erratic though (some very good and some very bad) and the editing was a bit shaky.

Milla Jovavich as usual was awful and nearly ruined the movie with her attempts at over-acting.

Worth catching if you're up late at night watching IFC or Sundance.

    6.5/10

Fitting I guess. With a couple different actors it would have rated higher.

    The Wrestler

I saw this last night. It's getting rave reviews and Mikey Rourke has already been nominated for best actor at the critic's choice awards. Marissa Tomei is also getting high praise for her role as well.

It's about a faded and old wrestler who is forced to come to terms with the fact that he neglected his family and himself while he was a featured attraction many years earlier.

Rourke plays one of the most sympathetic characters I've seen in a while. I'd recommend it to anyone....of age.

Youtube isn't loading for me, so if anyone else can get the trailer, that would be great.

Eubank. Supposedly, he gave Eubank a tough fight, but the fight was stopped prematurely in the 7th round in Eubank's favour. Tthe guy only had one more fight before retiring.

at first i thought the movie was about jake the snake roberts except roberts' real life is story is much more awful.

i thought this was the second best movie of the year that i've seen (just behind slumdog millionaire). it was also good seeing old tomei topless.

rourke should definitely win the oscar this year.

I love dramas, like Rourke, and am always interested in movies getting rave reviews. That said, I'm just not sure I can bring myself to watch this because of my extreme hatred of pro wrestling.

Sounds good. I'll look that one up tonight and report back.

Watched Assassination of Jesse James the other night. I enjoyed it.

Also picked up Rome Seasons 1+2 for £30 from Zavvi last night. CANNOT. WAIT.
