    Moon wasn't bad. About a 7/10 IMO.

Halloween 2: The atmosphere and cinematography were well-done in some parts, but were excessively gritty as per the usual Rob Zombie style (see: Devil's Rejects and House of 1000 Corpses). The story was lukewarm, but it got tiresome and kind of stupid to have Michael Myers and his estranged sister to see the same people---her mother and him as a young child in the clown costume. It was a valiant effort, but the story was like most of Zombie's offerings---it starts off rather bleak and then slides constantly downwards until it hits hopeless rock-bottom...and then it starts to dig.

I dunno...shouldn't the audience feel like at least one protagonist in his movies is going to escape torture or a grisly death? Isn't that how audiences develop a bond with the character? When every main character in each of his movies is killed off or tortured to death, it feels like there is no payoff for the viewer.

It'd be like taking the show LOST and then killing each of the main characters over time with painful, horrifying, grisly deaths. Then after nobody is left, the credits roll.

That seems to describe a Rob Zombie movie for me: a great deal of work on atmosphere, cinematography, and costume design...followed by all the characters getting horribly maimed or killed. Character development amounts to either cheesy crap, which looks like Zombie doesn't know how to write healthy relationships, or prolonged whining and angst.

Atmospheric downers with interesting visual and audio, but finally just downers.

Really, that's exactly the way I feel about Zombie. He's a skilled film-maker with some potential, but I have yet to see a movie of his that is actually scary................they are all just pretty fucking depressing.

Every movie of his I've bothered to watch, usually pisses me off more then anything.

What you've just discribed is the "how to" method of film making. Rob Zombie should be commended on doing films "his way".

On the other hand, a stink bomb is a stink bomb.

Black Dynamite: A parody of the blaxploitation flicks, sort of like I'm Gonna Get You Sucka. This was funny and entertaining. One of the better movies I've seen recently.

Green Street Hooligans: Movie about soccer thugs. I liked it, although apparently at imdb, the British people think pretty lowly of this movie. If you can get past Frodo being a tough guy/thug, it's entertaining enough.

    (500) Days of Summer Your average predictable boy-meets-girl-loses-girl plot edited ala Pulp Fiction mode (no chronological timeline). It was okay, but hailed as one of the best movies of the year? Give me a break! 7/10

Ocean's 13 Tried to watch it again for the third time and for the third time fell asleep within 15 minutes. Great cure for insomnia I guess...

The first one was actually very good. I was unable to watch the first sequel for the same reasons I can't watch the last one.

To be honest the first one was 'watchable' the other two are shit. They try to hard to be 'cool' and end up being dull as fuck

Actually the only one that really sucked was the 2nd. I'm not sure but I think the last one might be the best. IMO.

Oceans 12 was awfully bad. I liked the first but I haven't had the inclination to pick up the third based on the bucket of vomit that made up the second.

You and Erratic really should watch the 3rd. I initially felt the same way about part 3 but fell into seeing it and was glad I did. It's probably the best of the 3. At any rate it was miles better than the 2nd and even has good replay value.

It wouldn't take much. O12 had the worst 'twist' I've ever seen.

SPOILER (Like you give a shit):

Julia Roberts's character poses as Julia Roberts. Are you shitting me? How fucking lame was that?

Now that you mention it: Danny looks alot like George Clooney. Rusty is a dead ringer for Brad Pitt and Linus could pass for Matt Damon at a distance. Shitful. An utter shitfest. It was eyegougingly terrible. Fuck that movie.

I completely agree with you. In fact I had the exact same stance you and Erratic had, that I would not watch part 3 based on part 2. In fact I felt part 2 was so bad that part 1 was now IMO an overrated experience and the franchise was doomed. Anyway I forgot how or why but I saw 3 and as much as I hated to admit it, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Inglorious Basterds I like it. The actor playing the nazi villain, Christoph Waltz truly deserves an Academy Award statue for his memorable performance (he already won a Golden Globe). The plot is ridiculous and the cartoonish Hitler didn't help much. This is just a jewish fantasy, a satire, so taken in that context it can be very fun. Brad Pitt's over-the-top overacting was ok, but distracting at times. I did enjoyed the little 'homages' within the film to past film actors and films: for example, the name of the character portrayed by Til Schweiger, "Hugo Stiglitz" was the name of a 60's & 70's mexican action star who usually played badass characters. Also the jewish girl adopted name, Emmanuelle Mimieux is a homage to both the french erotic film "Emmanuelle" and 60's french star Yvette Mimieux. I had mixed feelings about Tarantino's use of David Bowie's "Pouring Out Fire" since that is the theme song from "Cat People", though he did an excellent job in matching the visuals and the plot into the lyrics. Good film, but a little too long. 8/10

Definitely, Maybe A watchable romantic comedy. Ryan Reynolds plays a dad that is forced to tell his inquisitive little daughter about his past girlfriends. Great performances by the little girl Abigail Breslin (someone give an Oscar to this girl! she is the best actress I have seen in a long time! every movie she makes from dramas to comedies she delivers great performances) and the always hot, always in mini-skirts, Isla Fisher. Rachel Weisz is good in her role as one of Reynolds love conquests and Elizabeth Banks is hot but bland in her role. I liked the fact that the Reynolds character looked real, with many flaws and making stupid mistakes. Did I said before that Isla Fisher is hot? LOL 7/10

Daybreakers - Well, we went to go see Avatar last weekend but it was sold out. I wanted to see "Book Of Eli" instead but got outvoted and saw Daybreakers.

I've actually been mulling this movie over for awhile. One second I hate it and the next I think it's brilliant or else I wouldn't be wondering about the implications presented in the movie to begin with.

Plot - a strange virus (never explained) takes over the world and turns everybody it infects into a vampire. Those who are not infected are given a choice to either turn vampire or become a part of the food supply (really it's not much of a choice )

Moral of the story is - Vampires are not really very good at planning ahead.

The food supply is running out and without blood the general population is beginning to starve. When people can no longer get blood they pupate into this sort of rabid/vampire/flying monkey/bat or some such shit. It's got no conscience and it's goal is to do nothing but feed (kind of like the zombies in 28 Days Later). Sort of a last ditch effort at survival of the fittest.

Of course the few humans left who have not been captured have discovered a cure but do not know how to implement it.

Cast - Well they needed somebody to be a whiny activist cunt and they got Ethan Hawke. Jackpot! They really couldn't have picked a better actor to be a whiny cunt.

They needed a leathery faced fuck to look like he was once a vampire himself and to serve as the conscience in the movie. They got Willem Dafoe. Jackpot! Elias from Platoon becomes vampire hunter.

They needed an aging slimy bureaucrat who's actually in a position to do good but is just too slimy and stupid to realize it, and basically serves as a character to simply root against. The got Sam Neill. Jackpot!

The rest of the cast.............who cares!

I think the concept was fantastic and had a lot of potential. A premise for a vampire movie I don't think we've ever seen before. I liked the look of it, although a lot of the night-time scenes were really washed out.

The ending was actually a bit ingenious. One of those "how the fuck are they going to get out of this" moments that actually pays off.

Problem was everything in the middle. A lot of stuff happens that's just really hard to buy, along with the nagging thought that not a single cattle rancher had successfully become a vampire..............otherwise none of this would be a problem to begin with.

An opening was left for a sequel, though I would be shocked if it ever became a reality.

Ok, probably the longest review I've ever written for a movie and I'm still not sure if I actually liked it or not. :bangh::bangh:

I should have gone to see "Book Of Eli".

I think the only romantic comedies I've ever liked were Coming to America and L.A. Story (it helps to have people like Murphy & Martin doing the screenplays).

    Maybe I'll watch this one.

    Avatar - 8 out of 10

What can I say? This film was really good. Much better than I was expecting as I generally think CGI is overused. Cameron has been sitting on this film a long time and I think he made the right decision.

The story is fairly standard fare but it is a thrilling ride. I'd recommend it to everyone. Looks like 3D is coming back in a big way.
