its amazing how the NFL, NBA and MLB got all the same shit he mentioned as far as employees and facilities plus more. yet still manage to pay their athletes a fair cut of the revenue.

The question is, if you compared histograms of fighter annual pay, between boxing and ufc, what's that look like? I imagine the boxing histogram is much more skewed, with huge outliers, whereas the ufc salaries are more nornally distributed. But that's just a guess.

Of course. Everyone in UFC is under contract. Minimum. 10k for starters. But much like WWE they have the ability to grow based on performance and personality. Low end boxers don’t have that kind of assurances. Low end MMA outside of the UFC don’t have it. Thats why UFC is the goal for 99% of fighters in MMA and kickboxing

UFC has a monopoly and I anticipate them getting split up over the next 10 or 15 years, or some strong fighter union.

That said UFC business model ends up providing way more competition for way less money. The boxing model led almost directly to the current "state" of boxing as it is.

Not sure which one makes more sense.

    I’m
Cool with a company of employees needing to pay the bills and it gets paid through the fighters. I also think that it will get better but it’s not a terrible model. Terrible models don’t attract 99% of the MMA fighters around the world. Terrible models don’t produce the fastest growing sport in the world. The good news is that with the purchase of UFC by endeavor, other streams of income help with those bills, increasing pay overall. Hunter has already spoken about this.

I don’t think it will be split up. There are other companies out there. They just don’t know how to run the fucking thing. The they lure top talent away with big big money and end up going broke in the process.

I think when you have most fighters trying to get to the UFC and sold out shows, it’s obvious which is the right way. UFC is growing leaps abs bounds. Boxing? Eh

I think UFC is stagnating but still on a rocketship in comparison to boxing.

Regardless when you're the only game in town you make the rules. Their recent leaked emails in their case vs cung le and others doesn't look good.

UFC will fall one day. Not overnight, obviously, but in our lifetimes we'll see it lose relevancy. Because it's built and run much in the same mold as WWE; and you see now what WWE is compared to its hey day.

Cage grappling fans can hate on boxing all they want, but boxing is the combat sport that will always stand the test of time. Boxing has been "dying" since the 60s, they said...

I have no study-driven evidence to back this, but it's of my opinion that it's just more naturally esthetically pleasing to watch a fist fight than it is a cage fight; cage fights that often devolve into one guy's face being stuffed into another's crotch. It's my belief that psychologically, people view a good fist fight as the ideal medium of combat.

The only reason boxing lost it's title as king is due to internal issues. They can be fixed, but even if theyre not quickly fixed, I think UFC will find ways to slowly (again, not overnight) self-destruct. When both sports are operating at their bests, with the best fighting the best... people prefer boxing. Especially on a global scale.

Another thing, like it or not, in the coming years, the Saudis will weild more and more influence and control in sports. More control in football (soccer), and in boxing. While there's plenty of drawbacks to their influence, it is beneficial that they're willing to inject so much money into big fights. I don't think the Saudis value MMGay to the same extent, which returns to my point, that on a global scale, boxing remains THE premier combat sport.

Boxing will always be the highest level of sport when two top guys face off and perform admirably. Corrales Castillo 1 is the greatest sporting event ever

Nothing cage related can compare to the skill/brutality/drama

There's also the history. And it DOES matter. MMGay will never touch boxing's history.

Our sport has produced quite possibly the most famous sportsman in history. One of the most famous PEOPLE in history, period. And Mike is easily one of the top 10 most famous athletes of all time.

You add to that that guys like Louis, Dempsey, Robinson, the Fab 4, Foreman, ect. Boxing has produced more famous figures than cage fighting ever will.

The most FAMOUS martial artist who ever lived wasn't even a true pro for fucks sake. He was a fuckin actor. I'm talking about Bruce Lee of course.

Gustafson vs. Jones was an amazing fight. There have been many great fights in MMA.

jon Jones, GSP, khabib, Volkanovski, Mighty Mouse, Cormier, Stipe, pereira, Mahachev, Edward’s don’t express any interest currently in boxing. I mean you can’t count on one hand fighters expressing interest in the sport of boxing.

Was already well aware of that. Both are owned by Endeavor, which is run by Ari Emanuel. I keep up with that sort of news.

WWE is way down from its peak, ratings wise and cultural relevance wise.

Yeah but it’s higher than it was from several years back. Ratings are a bad indicator, IMO. Everyone shares their tv apps or watches shit on TikTok live or YouTube.

If he saw the Fury fight and doesn't take it seriously, AJ would have to be in the lead for the biggest dummy on earth.

Yeah true. This dude is never humble. I don’t know. I figured he has got lots of eyes on him now. A brutal loss could hurt his rise.

Suck to say but in combat sports, it's a good thing to have fighters ''underpaid'' so that they stay hungry. One of the reason why we get so few superfights in boxing imo is because most boxers would rather milk their titles and fame while making easy defenses for a couple of millions than consistently test themselves against top opposition.

This is not tennis were a bad loss is barely an afterthought the day after. In boxing it means an ass whupping, with potentially severe physical or psychological damage, on top of future revenue loss.

Having promoters/network handing out millions like candies, without having a central structure to ensure the best fight the best, is a disaster for fans. Yes it s not fair that White and the Fertitas (yes I know they sold their shares) made billions while their stars made ''peanuts'', but it was definitely better for the sport. Just see how cards are less stacked nowadays compared to 10 years ago.

Francis says he doesn’t want the title. Doesn’t want to be beholden to any one. Just wants big fights.
