I don't think that's gonna happen, and to be honest, those remarks sound very much like envy and jealousy from a standpoint of being on the "outside looking in" IMO.
The kid isn't a perfect fighter, and he has much to learn and he will learn in due time as he is the hardest worker in the division as he takes very little time off from training.
You can type what you care to, but you are going to be eating crow when he wins the WBC title, I assure you.

Envy and jealousy? How about constructive criticism. If you know the guy isn't perfect, I don't see why you're defensive about our comments. Besides, neither Val nor myself were disrepectful towards you, so the LEAST you can do is show the same respect instead of falling back on your predictable and childish comments when compliments aren't reigned down on your preferred fighter.

 

He might not want to go for the WBC title, that's not a very winnable fight. He might want to go for Clinton Woods or something. Henry has not fought good opposition, he better take some smaller steps unless they want to just cash out.

I wouldn't give him much of a chance against Chad Dawson. Like you said, the winner between Woods and Gonzalez.

At least have the guy face someone in the top 25 like a Rico Hoye or Tito Mendoza

 

You talk about dropping hands and leaving your chin exposed, that is just what Chad does, and IF big IF he gets by his next fight, he is taking the 10 count vs Chris if he takes the fight at all, that is.
That wasn't constructive criticism FOM, that was BS as that is simply not happening.
Chris is number 3 now by the WBC, and next year is going to be the champion, regardless of whom he has to knock out to win the belt.

 

Dawson is also three inches taller and appears to have a significant reach advantage over Henry. It's fairly easy to counter a shorter fighter with a shorter reach when he's coming in, hands down. A half step back takes care of catching a guy like that when he's trying to break distance.

If you keep that left low you better have incredible reflexes to catch or counter or you better have a physical advantage (height and reach) to get away with it.

Based on the clips you've provided we CLEARLY see Henry getting clipped flush on the chin by lesser guys who obviously can't punch. It's not out of the realm of possibility to believe a seasoned fighter wouldn't capitalize on such a mistake.

Besides, it's not only his left he carries low, he drops the right as well. All fighters have flaws, it's simply a matter of how well you mask them. Against guys who don't fight back much, it's easy to remain brave.

Truthfully, he reminds me of a light heavy version of Tim Bradley and I'm not high on Bradley either.

 

Probably a little early to "cash out". He's probably better of knocking out cans and padding his record to get his ranking high all around. Then maybe he could go after the highest money bout.

He should be hoping Tarver wins as Dawson is still an unknown commodity.

First, thanks to Karl for the video. Regardless of opinions on Henry's talent it's always cool to see interviews like that.

Second, let Henry beat a meaningful LHW before we pick him to beat Dawson, Tarver, Hopkins, etc... Just let him beat one "real" guy first..

First off though, you have gotta step up to me in the the ring and show me how it's done.

I can only go by the clips but it seems Henry is pretty reliant on the right hand. Even when going to the body he swings it. (wildly at that)

If he used the left hook more often, especially underneath he'd be able to penetrate the high guard his opponents were using against him more easily. As it looks he's simply outworking and overpowering guys.

As has been pointed out by others, it won't be that "easy" when the competiton level increases.

As I have stated, he is far from perfect, but is a true gladiator in the Joe Frazier sense.

 

I'd be more that happy to work with professionals, providing it's financially worth my while. Based on this conversation, you wouldn't be part of that mix so any demonstrations I'd lead you through would not only be a waste of my time, it would be a wasted effort.

You're making it out like people are on here bashing the guy and saying he's shit. Nobody has done that, only offered some honest assesments.

 

it's amazing how people forget all the shit they gave Karla about Juan Diaz but here he is with a title around his waist and made Freitas quit. Karl might be onto something with this kid

That's all i could tell from the clips as he's a guy that "brings it to you" which is a style everyone can appreciate. I think he could do even better when up close if he mixes up his attack (especially with the left) moreso than banging away.

 

The only problem with throwing the lefthook more is...since he starts it low and throws it low, a straight puncher lands over it all day long. That's one of those bad habits that can't be corrected mid-fight. He'd continuously get nailed with that shot and couldn't get out of the way of it to save his life.

 

I'm sure you didn't do this on purpose, but it's pretty damn funny regardless. ::

 

But what if you're an older guy who can't do it anymore? Not all great trainers were great fighters is what i'm trying to say. However their knowledge is always sought after.

Thanks bro, I was making the interview as entertaining as I could for the folks here.
I thought Chris would do some smack talking towards Antonio for owning him in sparring, but he is such a nice kid he didn't take the bait.
It was after 11 PM as well doing that interview, and I had awaken at 6 in the AM to work and had to wake at 6 AM the next morning, and I was too tired to push the issue and wanted to just go home and take a bath and go to bed as I was basically exhausted.
