If I was a representative or advisor or somebody who's trying to hype a young unknown, I know for sure that I'd want to be paid for it. Why is the Stinger not getting paid? He could be spending his time taking vacations, having sex with his wife, playing baseball with his son, and all that stuff. Instead he's doing PR work for Chris Henry and getting paid nothing.
The FBI needs to look into this.

I listened to this interview over and over, and kept thinking, damn, Karl sounds just like someone, but I can't put my finger on it.

Today it hit me....Karl sounds like The Honkytonk Man.

Bias is everywhere, so saying, "The media is biased," means nothing.

Karl stated that he was a press agent for Chris Henry, so ethically, he is supposed to disclose that information when he reports on him. Not on the forums...it has to be made available to the public. If a story is on the front page of The Daily News, any questionable methods wouldn't be disclosed in their movie review section.

But let's be serious, there are many writers who are paid by fighters, managers and promoters.

And yes, the internet is a haven for bad reporting. But if every other website jumped off the brooklyn bridge....

...you get what I mean.


The problem with the internet is who is regulating it? and who cares?

But in reality, it's a disservice(sp?) to the public.

Dsimon's point about press releases is irrelevant. Press releases are written by someone who works for the promoter/fighter/manager. On top of that, they're used in the wrong way by websites anyway.

Plus, you can't just say, "Well, the readers should be able to tell." That's like George Bush saying, "Yeah, I lied about WMDs, but you guys should have known anyway."

 

Your analogy using Bush isn't correct because something like having WMDs isn't obvious. If Bush came out and said "We are boing to blow up Iraq because we are the biggest, the strongest, the fastest, and we rule the world" then it would be obvious that Bush is just using hype. That would be obvious. It's obvious in Karl's interview that

1. The interviewer is hyping up the fighter. no reporter would say "the next light heavyweight champion".
2. Karl has second hand knowledge of events that went on, but Henry himself corrects him regarding the sparring.
3. It's obvious that he's friends with the fighter. Anybody who doesn't see that is blind.

So I guess in your next interview with Elvir Muriqi you will say "Hi, this is Arben Paloka. I'm really good friends with Elvir and his family and I'm currently staying in his room--so whatever I say will be complete and utter bullshit. "

one thing tho, tomas adamek is no gas attendent. neither is eric harding, although he clearly hasn't been the same since the tarver rematch.

i still have not seen this henry cat, so i can't comment if he's any good or not, but he certainly hasn't beaten anyone noteworthy to have any claim as a top contender.

When you assume, you make an ass out of you and me. You can't assume anything...it goes nowhere. That's a terrible excuse.

Show me in any interview or story with Elvir where I came anywhere near doing what Karl did in that video. I've never even said he would hold a title, let alone become unified champion. In no story I've ever done with Elvir have I had it prominantly displayed while giving other shows no coverage. The one time I had anything on Elvir Muriqi bump anything out of the norm on my website was when someone else directed an up close documentary short which we already prominently feature on my site in that nature anyway. On top of that, there was not any other unique videos coming in at that point.

Three times have I actually ahd to voice my personal opinion on Elvir Muriqi. One was a story I wrote covering a fight of his in depth in which I disclosed my relationship with Elvir. The other two times were on the weekly radio show I used to host, and I also disclosed my relationship with him. I also did it once seperately for no reason.

Elvir has never given me a room, nor have I ever been close with him. My family is close with his, but I personally have only seen Elvir outside of a boxing setting maybe two or three times and spoken with him a total of zero times before I got involved with Boxing. After that, I spoke to him only once outside of Boxing and that was at a funeral. So my grand total of seeing Elvir outside of a Boxing setting has been a grand total of four times at the max. In all those four times, I spoke to him once. Every other time, we just happened to be in the same room with about four hundered other people.

So, sorry buddy...you're wrong.

Hell, when Dawson beat Joey Spina at middleweight THAT surpassed anyone Henry has fought.

Karl, this is precisely the reason guys have a difficult time granting you slack. You spend so much time degrading a champion like Dawson, while out of the other side of your mouth you're critical of anyone who says anything about Diaz as a champion.

Henry could very well turn out to be a legit contender. At this point, there is absolutely no reason to view him as such and more importantly rating him at #3 CLEARLY shows how corrupt the WBC is.

Show Dawson the same respect you'd want guys to show Diaz. Certainly that's not too much to ask.
